we could do with the extra income from the play-off final. I'm sure we can throw the game though to make sure we don;t go up

I honestly have no idea why I bother.

We have the players, just not the team.

A word on barnsley. They were shit, but they were organised well drilled and up for it. They hustled all game and had clearly done their homework on how we like to play and shut that down.

in comparison we were sluggish passive and devoid of direction.

where are the triangles? Where is the movement and desire to show for the ball. Everything is slow laboured and predictable. The passing is wayward and over or underhit. Its never crisp. And it never flows.

adkins has to take some blame but I'm not sure what he can do when at least half a team of players who've proved they top end championship quality play like clueless amateurs who don't care.

Akpan is so, so one footed. Every time the pass was behind McCleary becuase of it, meaning he couldn't run onto it. Dreadful ball control as well

bobby1413 I hate the negativity on the board, however I do feel that tonight it is warranted.

I only stayed the first half (pre-planned due to work commitments), but honestly I was quite relieved to leave. It was probably the most boring and poor game I've seen all season at the Madstad.

You thought the 1st half was bad??

One of the most inept displays of football I've ever been unfortunate enough to witness. 0/10. Turd of the match goes to Gorkss - his stinker early on pretty much set the tone for the rest of the evening.

We can't even moan that the opposition were sitting back & waiting for the counter attack this time as they took the game to us. No desire, no guts, no skill.

They should be put into stocks in the town centre so we can all throw mouldy food at them.

Not trying to defend Adkins here (well perhaps a bit) but they are professional bloody footballers. Regardless of who sits in the dugout, that is a totally & utterly unacceptable, indefensible performance by those players tonight. They should be bloody well ashamed.

Will be interesting to see what happens on Saturday.

Did anyone see Crosby shaking his head in disbelief numerous times?

Adkins brought on ALF, then spent 15 minutes chatting to his 'assistants' before completely failing to impact on the game with his next change. Clueless.

Knew we were going to lose from the start. Players didn't look bothered from the start! Everyone had a shocker. Harsh to single out anyone when all were as bad as eachother.

Their first goal was just Shambolic from us, however their 2nd and 3rd goals were complete quality. Can't say Barnsley didn't deserve their win.

For anyone who didn't stay, Pearce was almost physically beating himself at the end with how shit he and we were. Despite resounding boos, roughly 5 minutes of seat banging before the final whistle and a resounding chorus of 'that was embarrassing' he still came over and clapped those left. And got the applause he deserved for doing it.

That was awful. First half I felt that we were ready to click at any moment, but it just didn't come... They then scored two very nice goals, and we went from below average to shocking. They looked like playoff candidates rather than relegation fodder, and the idea of us being in with a shout of promotion baffles me, although Drenthe impressed me, as did Blackman, whilst Mccarthys ability to give the ball straight to either the opposition or the ball boys is at the very least impressive. No idea why we ever thought ALF could play for England.

I beg to differ that "we have the players". Tonight we were playing a LW at LB, another LW in CM, a RW at LW. Most of the options off the bench were completely untested youth players. I am not absolving NA from taking some of the blame for this game but he had no option but to play the shit hand dealt to him. I can just imagine what the reaction would have been if he opted to start Tanner or Jake Taylor in CM and we lost this game 3-1...lynch mobs would be forming. But since he didn't play them that is his fault too.

McCarthy: 4 - partially at fault for their first goal
Obita: 6 - decent set pieces when Royston went off, was more of an attacking threat that McCleary which says it all. MOTM
Gorkss: -10 - dogshit. gives away a pen last week, liability in most games. We have a promising young ball-playing CB in Hector who is out of contract at the end of the season but still Gorkss gets in the team
Pearce: 6 - poor passing but was the only one of our players who was capable of winning headers. extra points for being the only player to face the fans at the end and look like he cared
Gunter: 3 - think his poor pass lead to one of their goals. passing poor throughout
McCleary: 3 - our LB offered more of an attacking threat than he did
McAnuff: 4 - not his fault the club didn't offer Baird a contract
Akpan: 5 - good passing, couldn't win a header
Royston: 5.5 - our most attacking threat. poor set pieces and missed a sitter
Blackman: 1 - forgot he was playing
Pog: 5.5 - not fit, looks even slower than usual. won a pen though...

I still don't know what our style of football is... one minute we're hoofing it from the back and the next we're trying to play through midfield. One minute we're putting balls into the box and the next we're breaking through the middle. One things for sure: we probably won about 10% of headers all game, so why the f*ck didn't Adkins tell them to stop hoofing the ball and start passing it. They started closing us down, so increase the passing tempo? We're so one-dimensional...

It's no wonder that we're so shit at home. All teams have to do is stick 11 men behind the ball and we won't break them down. Away from home we can hit teams on the break.

Well that was abysmal, pathetic, rubbish, embarrassing, awful to watch, characterless, garbage – I could go on. Probably one of the worst (if not the worst) RFC performances I have ever seen.

McCarthy 3 - poor distribution and at fault for a goal. Time for Federici to return. LOL McCarthy for England – more like League 1.
Gunter 2 - POTS so far but dire today
Obita 5 - probably MOTM but with a 5!
Pearce 4 – would have been a lower score but one very good header and tries.
Gorkks 2 - hoof. Poor passing and that shank early on to give them a corner was LOL
Akpan 4 - one of the better performers with a 4
McAnuff 3 - lost in midfield
McCleary 1 – excellent this season but dire today.
Blackman 1 – I have stuck up for him this season but also dire today.
Drenthe 2 – show boating and terrible delivery – but the sad thing is we looked worse after he came off.
Pog 4 – at least made some effort

Alf 2 - Mr Anonymous
HRK 4 – probably slightly better than most of the others.

I don't usually defend the fans being negative but maybe the home truths that were chanted tonight might wake a few of the players up.

I am stunned at just how sh1t we were. I didn't think it was possible we could be that sh1t TBH. I suspected tonight might be a struggle & we might concede, but I still thought we'd grind out a win & get that monkey off our backs.

Didn't hear the interview - what did Adkins say?
