My mate and I saw mcanuff after the game - fair play took a pic of my mate with him - he looked well pissed off

Told him not to worry, just forget this game and win Saturday

As an aside, what does Adkins do at half time as it doesn't work!

Libertine I beg to differ that "we have the players". Tonight we were playing a LW at LB, another LW in CM, a RW at LW. Most of the options off the bench were completely untested youth players. I am not absolving NA from taking some of the blame for this game but he had no option but to play the shit hand dealt to him. I can just imagine what the reaction would have been if he opted to start Tanner or Jake Taylor in CM and we lost this game 3-1...lynch mobs would be forming. But since he didn't play them that is his fault too.

:|
We were playing Barnsley.
As a Yank you might not be too clued up as to how shit Barnsley are.
Well they are very shit.
Did we "have the players" to beat Barnsley at home comfortably? Yes, of course we did and anyone who disagrees with that is a massive spaz, yank or not.

Well if you take a peak at the match thread you'll realize I know how shit Barnsley are this season. So then the question should be asked why didn't we beat them? Or better, why did they absolutely dominate us in every aspect of the game? Because tonight our team was far more shit than theirs was. We were completely outclassed and looked like the team rooted to the foot of the table with a -32 GD...we were League 1 mid-table quality, at best, tonight. The result doesn't lie...

McCarthy - useless. Can't kick a ball in a sport that revolves around doing just that. 0/10
Gunter - useless. His worst ever performance for Reading. 0/10
Gorkss - useless. Put him in the bin. 0/10
Pearce - won every single header before the collapse. Lost every single header after the collapse. Not particularly at fault for the collapse mind. Came closest to scoring a proper goal with a decent header. 3/10
Obita - seemed to have been chucked the hot potato at the end, no one else was man enough to have a go. Some decent set pieces. 3/10

McCleary - Think he did 1 or 2 decent things in the first 10 minutes - 1/10
McAnuff - Has mastered the art of passing sideways and backwards, now try something else. 1/10
Akpan - useless. At fault for the start of our collapse about 15 minutes in with a shit pass to Obita that went miles behind him. Did absolutely nothing in the 2nd half, leaving McAnuff to pass the ball sideways all by himself. 0/10
Blackman - useless. Try mastering the art of finishing 1 on 1 before you start trying to chip the keeper you clown! 0/10
Drenthe - Looked like he created a few opportunities. But he wasted more. Shit set pieces, shit finishing. 1/10

Pogrebnyak - useless. Get up off the floor and try and win a header every once in a while. Has the touch of a rapist; one chested control went about 5 metres away from him, would have been better controlled if he'd just closed his eyes and let it hit him.

Subs:
ALF - Oh yeah, lets bring on a poacher? :| We needed to bring on a goalkeeper, 2 defenders, 5 midfielders and a oxf*rd target man, never mind a bloody poacher.
HRK - I'd totally lost interest by that point.

Adkins: Plan A was once agin dick about in our half and fall over in their half to try and win a free kick/penalty. Well it got us one goal, but all in all the plan was a resounding failure. 0/10

This season has been horrendous and can't end fast enough. How the oxf*rd are we in the playoffs? There is no logical answer to that. Atkins OUT!

People saying the season has been horrendous and yet we're still 6th. I'm not saying I disagree or agree with you, but it's an observation.

Somehow we are still (on paper) doing really well, challenging for promotion places. We're over achieving? I don't think so, I think we're just so irritatingly inconsistent it's beyond belief.

I've seen us win at Forest, Watford and Millwall. I watched us convincing win against QPR too. There was also 7-1 and 5-1 results at home and us scoring for fun.

Yet we somehow go and play utter gash when we should be riding high. The players are the same, and it seems mostly home games we just look scared of the ball and lack confidence or the real cutting/clinical edge. I'm reluctant to blame Nigel as I'm a big believer in players taking ownership, they are the ones that win games one week and lose the next.

Will stop here as I don't know what point I'm trying to make... :?

I can't see how Adkins is to blame, he has been sold false promises from an absent owner, and then had no investment in January to improve a squad that has been depleted by injuries. We get rid of Adkins - and replace him with whom?

Yes... we've had some bad results, particularly at home and fan anguish is particularly understandable; but we're still in the hunt and tonight's squad is as bad as it gets with key players - Morrison, Williams, Guthrie, Bridge - coming back on the horizon.

I suppose the modern football fan wants everything at once, we just have to contend with a push for a play-off spot....

Forget the divs on the pitch, I'm astounded at the complete mongdivery of our fans. Sarcastic cheering after an early misplaced pass is unacceptable if you want home form to improve. Booing at the end has its place and was probably warranted today, but to cheer for a diminutive misfiring striker to come on after an hour to save us shows a lack of respect for the players on the pitch, or a lack of any real footballing knowledge. Some utter utter morons in the north stand today. /r

After 5 games at home where we have failed to win and play utter tosh in all of them, Derby apart. I don;t blame the fans for losing it tonight. Barnsley are bottom for a reason they are shite, yet they played us off the park. And we all know it will be the same Saturday. I am dreading it already.

Quite right.
Coincidentally, this was the second time this season I've been in attendance of a match where the home team has been spanked by the bottom of the table. Was at Colchester in December when Notts County came along and won 4-0. I can therefore confirm that it is not just Reading fans who react angrily to getting thrashed by a team at the bottom of the league.

And of course they have a right to. oxf*rd off the "You can't expect to win every game" mob. Surely I can expect at least a point at home to the bottom of the league?
Whether you are 1st, 6th or 23rd, getting battered at home by the team in 24th position is unacceptable.

Obviously are home form is a slight problem, but our away form is good and we're still in the play-offs. So I don't really see why people are being so negative.

I think the worst part about having average home form and good away form is that breeds negativity amongst the fans who aren't seeing them win every week.

Silver Fox I don't normally bother with the whole ratings thing but I will today because it's easy

Everyone 0

It all starts with that chump Adkins though. People can cry about him being promised stuff but our squad has some decent players who he can't coach to win a game against empirically the worst side in the division. First one out of the door even when we improbably win the playoffs

Fickle fan - go and support Wolves.

Where do you start with that shambolic load of sh*t.

Eleven statues closed down easily by a Barnsley side who had commitment and desire to win the game.

There was no midfield they were missing all night, did we really have five in there.

Adkins your team selection and tactic s are sh*t.

Why play McAnuff in the centre of midfield when he has been performing on the left wing?

McCleary starts on the left wing when he has been on the right of late linking well will Gunter, why the change.

Time to bring in Fed's for McCArthy as his form of late bar one save late on against Derby has been crap.

Gorkss simply is not good enough, he is too slow he takes too much time on the ball.

Blackman was he even on the pitch.

Barnsley played 4-4-2 why did you not match up to it from the start, after all we were at home.

What did you say at half time, not a lot because it just got worse and worse.

To leave the ground at the final whistle with the fans singing "That was embarrassing" says it all!

This, but it wasn't a call from the North Stand, there was barely a murmur last night. It's the East Stand calling for Alf, I think that's because he's the only one with a song. The ole cheers at 1-3 were embarrassing.

McDermott was sacked for losing to teams such as Aston Villa and Wigan. Adkins has a better squad at his disposal, and yet is losing to teams such as Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Bournemouth (and only scraping a draw against Yeovil).

Every side has to deal with injuries, a good manager is adaptable and works around them but as his record when coming from behind shows Adkins is the least adaptable manager I've ever seen. He seems too proud of his 'style of play' (which is shit) to try and change it. He's got to go.
