Looks like Sky were right, this probably will be the game they clinch promotion. Would be fitting as we did so at their place in 2006.

After tonights draw with Wigan tho we only need them to slip up once more...

Would even be more fitting if we stopped them breaking our record points total...

I would expect them to win the two home games before coming to us, so winning promotion against Brighton. Their fans deserve it at their place. Worst case is they win Friday and QPR. Lose on Saturday, making it a bit of a damp promotion

I didn't realise they had a midweek game next week, they'll almost certainly be promoted before they come to us, end of thread

Most fitting would be a 1-1 draw at the Mad Stad to clinch promotion but at the same time preventing them from taking or even equalling our record!

I would not be surprised if Leicester lost their next game, at home to Sheff Wed this Friday.

People seem to be taking it as a given that they'll romp home to another three points in this one, but I can't help looking back over Wednesday's erratic season so far which would suggest on their day they are a match for anyone. Failing to win a single game until November, when they put six past us to record their first win, they have since gone on to a 2-1 win at home versus Leicester, beat a decent Watford side, put another six past Leeds, did us in again at the Mad Stad and more recently took all three points versus QPR and Brighton.

At 6/1 for the away win I'll certainly be backing it, and keeping my fingers crossed our record is safe for yet another year! 8)

Maguire
windermere_royal it could well be pay back time when they come here in two weeks for us having the audacity to get promoted at their place back in 2006

TBF they were very fair and respectful that day so good luck to them I say

True. Would complete the circle, in the same way in which Forest beat us in 1998 to secure promotion in their own backyard before returning the favour at the Madj in 2012.

I would support your fair-minded feeling towards their achievement, but the Leicester accent really is terrible. So I'll probably leave 5 mins before the end, as per.

If I was going to be a bit Spacey about things I would add "f*ck 'em for taking McGhee".

EDIT: Just seen that they have two home games before they play us. Maximum points put them up.....and that is assuming QPR and/or Derby manage to accumulate maximum points from two away games themselves (QPR @ Bournemouth & Blackburn, Derby @ Middlesbrough & Blackpool). Hopefully a case of 'After The Lord Mayor's show' when Leicester visit us.....although of course in 2006 after clinching it at Walkers Stadium we went unbeaten until the end of the season.

Spacey might be wrong. There are usually two sides to a story (something McGhee himself claimed as well) Having had a go at Leicester at the time, I received a letter from their Chairman (Martin George IIRC) which told another, slightly different story from the one that our own supporters had been fed. That's one of the reasons that I won't accept at face value many of the statements that our own glorious leader and/or his people come out with.

I still remember how well we were treated back in 2005/6 by the Leicester City staff (in my own and my kids' case being given tickets on the day in with the Reading fans having initially bought tickets in the home stands), stewards and the vast majority of their supporters.

TBF I don't recall any suggestion that Leicester had done wrong. Higher division, no suggestion they weren't entitled to speak to McGhee.

The issue most of us had was with him and him alone I thought. The issue was the talks with Madj desperate to keep him and McGhee saying he'd stay just to get home, then furking off. Grow some bottle and just leave man. Now I may be misremembering, but I thought at least some acknowledgement of that came from McGhee himself.

And then of course there's the way he reacted to the stick he got, which was to slag off Reading.

Pardew was the one who was tapped up without permission.

McGhee stabbed SJM on the back, what a shock that bitter RB doesn't see an issue with that

How strange that the Ego's fan club think that his account of what happened can be the only side of the story and is 100% accurate!

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Leicester Chairman had a somewhat different view of what happened, in terms of how they behaved. Furthermore, IIRC, McGhee is also on record as stating that his recollection of events was slightly different - a lot of that revolved around what actually constitutes a firm commitment to stay.

Sometimes people only hear what they want to hear said and I think that the 'drink with McGhee' saga might be one such case.

It would appear that before Xmas JM made a rash commitment regarding transfer funding that he was subsequently unable to deliver on. Perhaps all those years ago he was equally rash in so quickly committing to McGhee remaining at the club.

thats pretty much what everyone on here has stated happened.

mghee told jm hed stay, JM told people he'd stay, mghee left cos he'd only said it out of hand, and that it didnt really constitute a firm commitment to stay.

so not sure why you've become so upset and strident about it

And yet you choose to accept the word of a Leicester Chairman you knew nothing about with a vested interest in defending his man over our own Chairman.

You're no better than anyone you're accusing of just accepting SJMs word. And lets face it, you've got a massive axe to grind making your judgement unreliable.
