Libertine Well, the saying goes at least, that the toughest lead to defend is a 2-0 one at HT. I don't know who said it but I will hang my hat on it for now and hope...

Last season we were an upper tier Championship squad that had overachieved, this season we are an upper tier Championship squad that is underachieving.

It was probably a Watford fan at Man City in the cup

Silver Fox Sound totally uninspired and that's one man's fault, fvck off now Adkins please

Frankly, if the players can't motivate themselves for this game they're even more at fault.

I don't think it's a motiv8ion problem, I just don't think we are fit enough in the key positions

I think it's combination of fitness and confidence.

If you're going to blame the manager, blame him for putting together the squad (hard to do seeing as Adkins has effectively had half a transfer window), picking the tactics, managing training, picking the team (hard to do given the list of injuries we've got is longer than my arm). Motivation once on the pitch is the one thing he shouldn't have to be focusing on.

TBF right now we are a decent championship squad that has been continually struck down with CM injuries from August onwards. The club should have done something to get some emergency loanees in. Some of these players are probably doing themselves more damage even playing. God help us if we do make top 6 as they'll all be completely fcuked by then.

Then you do wonder what Nigel Adkins gets for his £20k a week if he cannot motivate his players.

But we're not are we?

We are a squad that should be in the play-off mix. And we are.

MmmMonsterMunch All those players are tired & injured. I am trying not to be too harsh but you can tell they're crocked. Why the fcuk didn't Blackman start ahead of McCleary? He could more than do a job & it's harsh he's not seeing any game time IMO.

When has Blackman ever "done a job"?
As for the injuries all clubs have patched-up teams at this time of the year and it becomes a test of stamina and bravery-unfortunately we don't have too many brave ones.

I'd wonder rather a lot more what the players get their ££,£££s a week for if they can't motivate themselves to have a good go on the pitch.

He's not a sports psychologist, he's a manager.

The thing is Wigan are a good side and this match could have easily gone this way with a fully fit squad. The problem has been the matches at home to Barnsley, Yeovil, Sheffield Wednesday, etc. That's where the damage has been done this season.

He was actually our best player over the festive period & then got harshly dropped IMO

And the thing is, the reason we're still in contention is because most of our poorer performances and results have come against teams at the bottom that we aren't directly competing with. Our results against the teams at the top (on the whole) are actually good.

"Not the manager's job to motivate his staff"
I hope Ian Royal's not a manager.

3-0 now.
I s'pose it's not the manager's job to give an inspiring half time team talk either?
