I agree with that but ...

but there seemed little point winning 3-1 or 3-2 as it would still mean City having to lose one of their last 2 games for Liverpool to win the title and we all know that they won't lose .

is mental and completely contrary to the scenes of upset upon final whistle. Plus ... Just Plain Wrong.

A win would have given Liverpool a slightly better hope, just in case City draw OR lose. Claiming otherwise  :|

Ah..the plethora of tears at football matches, that's something else altogether.
When you are at a game you get caught up in the emotion but the fact remains that Liverpool had only a squeak of a chance of finishing top if they scored ridiculous amounts of goals-even scoring 13 with no reply over the 2 games wouldn't have worked other than City only winning their games 1-0.
With City's fantastic home record any sensible punter wouldn't back against them and they are now 1/14 to win it.

As I said before I am glad that Liverpool had a go (just as Hamilton did on Saturday in scoring 10 but Dundee still won their home game as expected and ended up as champions)).

Newspaper matey from the times was on the radio earlier and reckons the Suarez tears were cos he knew he wouldn't be at Liverpool next season and he wanted to go out as league winner. He's off to Real in the summer

I can imagine during the Suarez transfer shenanigans last season LFC might have said to him that if he played for another season they wouldn't stand in the way of a big move the following summer - not sure Real need him though unless Benzema moves on.

Whilst there was something to admire in going for the big win Rodgers only had a Plan A. Once Palace scored the big win was off the cards so the sensible call then is for damage limitation and make damn sure you keep the 3 points. Just maybe the big book of tactics isn't so big after all.
PS No axe to grind here, if I gave a toss about any Prem side I would have actually quite liked to see Liverpool win it.

this... he should have parked the bus at 3-1

at 3-2 he should have parked another bus in front of the first bus and made sure of his 3 points

Points on the board better than games in hand

Bear in my mind 2nd goal was only 2 minutes after the 1st.
Possible that a defensive sub would not have got on the pitch in time even if Rodgers had tried.
Should definitely have done something at 3-2 though.

I think he said afterwards that at 3-2 they had Agger ready to come but then Palace nicked the 3rd.

Yep, Agger was stripped and ready when the 3rd went in.

Think everyone has gone massively overboard in their criticism of Rodgers tbh. He's got Liverpool playing some fantastic football, in reality they should have had 7 by the time Palace scored their first, and it's that relentless attacking style that has got them where they are.

They concede a few too many goals but just about every one of their live games this season has been a joy to watch. Quite why people want him to turn Liverpool into another Chelsea is beyond me tbh.

I don't think it's a case of needing him, they can afford him and the president will promise it to win over fans etc - they didn't need Bale last season but splashed out over £80m for him. I can see Suarez being close to £100m

yeah I'm with you there. they'll be within a hair's breadth of the title with only one player with any experience of it (IIRC) and no coaching staff.

Agreed. Liverpool are a 'orrible club, wouldn't want to be anything like them.

Extremely nice of Liverpool to do a minute's silence for the Bradford fire victims. They know more than anyone what it's like for fans to go to football & never come home.

Oh hang on a minute..........

The utter hypocrisy of it all just astounds me. Public grieving is only allowed for dead scousers then.

Fair play to Peterborough & Orient for doing it.

Bit much to expect everyone to mark a disaster every year. It's not a significant land mark year since the disaster. The whole thing hasn't just been raked up again over the last year or so to bring some actual justice to it, because it wasn't covered up at the time and people had a chance to properly grieve and move on.

I'm sure KoS will be back once he's wiped his tears away claiming it was a fantastic season and that they are more than happy with second.

Yep. All Liverpool fans have changed their tune over the last few weeks. It's gone from "We're going to win it" to "We're happy with 2nd".
