wingnut Dreadful game. We didn't have a shot in the second half and the goal the only effort in the first. Couldn't have complained if Ipswich had equalised or even won that - certainly had two very good chances in the second half.
Still a win is a win and Ipswich are a well organised side if somewhat limited so a decent result but Christ it made for poor entertainment.
3points Exciting football isn't all about shots on goal. It's about being an absorbing contest. A tight 1-0 can easily be as good as a 7-1 win against Bolton. I enjoyed today. My normal guide is how quickly the clock seems to count down. For me a good game sees the first 80 mins fly by and then the last 10 take an eternity (if we're winning) or race by (if we're down by the odd goal)

winchester_royal Think today would have been the wrong time for Kuhl (or Tanner) to come on. Ipswich were very physical and tall, and those two are neither. That's why the likes of Cooper and Stacey were brought on imo, to at least partially deal with Ipswich's height. And also probably why Akpan stayed on the pitch despite being totally useless in the second half.

Royal Ginger Cox had fantastic ball control but was always too far away from Pogrebnyak to make much of a difference. That invisible line connecting them will come soon. Edwards was noticeably more in tune with Pog when he came on, which is to be expected as they've had a pre-season together, but he suffered from the way the game was going.
Obita started quietly but grew into the game.
Akpan was barely passable but needs to keep his arms down. Every time he jumped his arms went up.

Really I thought Blackman won his fair share of headers in the first half, flicking them on down the right hand touchline, was just no one getting on the end of them most of the time.
