Mr Angry Yesterday was as much about how poor Spurs were as how good Liverpool were.

Goes hand in hand really.

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, 19, admits he was confused by manager Brendan Rodgers' joke about his fluffed finish against Tottenham, saying he had to Google both 'Ricky Gervais' and 'Ricky Villa'.

Stirling is soooooo overrated. He's everything thats sh+t about many modern footballers. He's so one footed. Give it 3 seasons and every defender in the country will know how to play him.

Done they are heading back where they belong in mid table obscurity.

Suarez was that team and without his pulling defences apart -so he and others can have a go- Brenda is clueless how to fix it.. Expect him to be gone or panic buy big come January

Its at that stage where Bodgers now has to build "his" team. He didn't have to do that at Swansea, With us he had a great side and still left us bottomish of the championship at Christmas. I get the impression if things aren't right and they fall off the
pace, the moaning will start and the scousers will start sharpening the knives very soon. The b+llshit excuses have started. "Its England's fault" made me laugh.

Bodgers! Hilarious....

What is it now? 5 years of almost constant success for him since he left us? You'd think people might have accepted by now that he's a terrific manager / coach.

Hey ho.

Liverpool haven't beaten Villa at Anfield since 2010. They are a bit of a bogey team for them, so this was a pretty expected result, to me at least. Doesn't prove much in the context of the season beyond them not being good enough to win the thing.

Yeah I always think that, when you get two almost completely different sets of players line up in different formations with different managers and different football philosophies. Foregone conclusion, not sure why they bothered playing

Brilliant isn't it. You'd think that when the guy is being talked of as a future Barca or England boss, a few Home Counties dimlows could write off a six month period at Reading and look at his other achievements.

Exactly. Swansea was Martinez's team and Liverpool was 100mill plus project he picked up. Last season the top clubs were poor. Chelsea in transition, Arsenal way short in squad terms and United.....well.......rubbish. Citeh too finished strong. This season is different. Chelsea will walk it, Citeh still don't convince but do enough, Arsenal have a better squad and even Spurs are mounting a comeback. United though are still garbage.

Depends on how you define success. If you define it on winning things then McDermott and Coppell are more successful managers.
So saying that, anyone who says he hasn't improved the way Liverpool have played under his tenure is pretty dense.

I do believe this year will be a watershed either way. The complications of juggling CL football will have a detrimental effect on performances in the PL. I just can't see them hitting 2nd again. However, he proved me wrong last year and I have no axe to grind.

But we shall see.

Last season, Liverpool benefited from a unique set of circumstances; no European football (and out of the Cups relatively early), no serious injuries to key players, and probably the best striker in the World at the time......and still blew it.

This season, despite spending well over £100M, they are going to struggle to finish in the top 4.

rogers spent pretty well imo. he bought a ton of young, quality players with loads of potential under the right development and a few experienced players in the PL. they may not be as successful this year but they could do very well in the upcoming years.

Chelsea 88m
Arsenal 78m

Only Utd (145m) have spent more than the 117m that Liverpool have...

Liverpool weren't untouched by injuries. Sturridge was out for some time and Suarez was banned for a little while and they coped quite well when they were missing.

At the back they were also without a fair few of those that would conceivably has been their first choices as well. It was the likes of Finnegan stepping up that meant they didn't seem to be missed too much.

As for the rubbish about Rodgers success at Swansea being all down to Martinez etc, well that's just rubbish. He had an advantage in the sense the club was used to a passing game but Rodger addressed their short comings and got more out of the squad than any of the previous managers which, if you ask me, is the essence of good management.
