Stadium expansion to 59,000 finally approved.

Am I the only one who can't see why Liverpool & Everton don't pool (no pun intended) resources to get a stadium that will house, say, 90,000 and share in the way that Inter & Milan, Flamengo & Vasco and numerous others do ?

It seems to make serious financial sense in that it spreads the risk, means they shell out half the cost (each obviously).

Why does it work for others but these two are so entrenched they won't consider it ? Especially when you consider how close the two grounds are and the difficulty in getting the neighbours to allow the building work.

There isn't much in the way of ground sharing over here though. Too much history and tradition of clubs having their own ground and everything that goes with it to break with that.

I think it's partly financial as well though. I think clubs want to be able to use their own ground for other business activities and offices etc. Ground sharing possibly doesn't support that model.

Great penalty shootout last night though.

Any more news on Liverpool flouting the FFP rule? They are one of several clubs being investigated.

What is it now? 5 years of almost constant success for him since he left us? You'd think people might have accepted by now that he's a terrific manager / coach.

Prefer the terms 'Ooof' and 'boom!' to 'Morrissey' with regards to social network updates, tbf.

Awful tonight. Bizarre, empty performance. Seemed no conviction, ball just kept bouncing off Sterking, in particular.

Caught most of this game & Liverpool just don't look up to this standard - they are a shadow of the team they were last season & Gerrard in particular, had another stinker last night

Lost count of the amount of times he gave the ball away

Whole team just looked disinterested. The signing of Balotelli hasn't worked - his casual and lazy approach just doesn't fit the style Rodgers had Liverpool playing. Last season Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho were snapping at defenders heels - last night the Basel defence had all the time in the world as Mario stood with his hands on his hips.

Sterling's touch was woeful last night.

Ball was bouncing off him.

SSN at the start of the season were asking which was the better deal, Balotelli to Liverpool or Costa to Chelsea. They're now asking, Balotelli or Welbeck. Next week they'll be comparing him to Nick Blackman.

Were they? Really?

That says more about their stupidity than anything, obviously failing to realise that the two clubs shop in different markets entirely.

I know Im gonna get slaughtered for saying this but I think Sterling is a slightly better version of Aaron Lennon. Very quick and impressive when running and taking players on but so one footed, and I don't think his touch or passing is all that. Then again he might prove me wrong.
