Surely he can say what he likes about a Bournemouth player.

Pearce now seems to be more or less confirmed to be heading to Derby.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Derby County are set to beat several of their Championship rivals to the signing of Reading defender Alex Pearce.

Pearce is out of contract at Reading this summer and has yet to agree a new deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The likes of Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers have been credited with an interest in Pearce, but Derby are understood to be in pole position to land the Republic of Ireland international.

Despite being without a head coach since the departure of Steve McClaren earlier this month, the club are still continuing with their recruitment plans and are confident of securing a deal for Pearce.

Derby have made a new central defender one of their top targets this summer and they feel that Pearce on a free transfer would be a perfect addition to their squad for next season.

Pearce has come through the ranks at Reading and has made over 200 appearances for the Royals, but it appears that he is set to end his stay at the club this summer.

loyalroyal4life Can't believe we didn't go for Gladwin! I know QPR are taking a massive risk especially if they do not go straight back up, surely that is what it is about though taking a calculated risk to try get up for next season and the extra tv money!!!

That really p*ssed me off. How do they manage to make so many signings? Would absolutely LOVE to see them fold. Easily my most hated team.

Really do not know how they do it, would love to know especially with the brilliant idea that is in force known as FFP

Ffs - if Pearce also going, will we actually have enough players to form a proper team for new season?

I thought the point of a re-build was to get rid of the shit ?

So far we've lost our POTS, about to lose our best defender and will probably lose our captain all whilst retaining Pog, HRK, Blackman, etc....

To replace these players we're going to have to spend money. Money that we should be spending on areas we actually need to improve

Good job RFC

What do you suggest we should do to keep the 3 you want to keep and get shot of the 3 you want shot of?

Get Samrit - who isn't technically involved with us - to buy another club and offer them comparable wages with small transfer fees coming our way. He can then plead poverty and oxf*rd off like Anton did to us.

Contact Anton and point out he owes us. Get his Dad to use his connections to bring over some ex-KGB and threaten Pearce, Jem and Kelly into signing new deals on reduced wages or spend the rest of their life waving geiger counters over their tea.

I thought the point of a re-build post PL relegation was to get the high wage earners off the books?

Now all 3 of Federici, Pearce and Jem have been offered new deals. The fact that these 'loyal' players don't feel they can accept the reasonable wages (for the current level they play at) is hardly the club's fault is it?
We will free up a significant amount of money by not retaining those three so I won't personally won't be overly fussed if Pearce and Jem follow Feds out of the door. We're a relatively (fan base wise) small championship club not a PL club and we simply can't afford to pay players like we are still in the PL.

Yes in an ideal world we'd be shot of the dross like HRK, Akpan, Blackman etc but we don't live in an ideal world.

Pearce will be gone tomorrow, not heard anything on Karacan.

Clarke clearing out his rotten eggs, bring in the new!

I don't see how you can describe Pearce leaving as Clarke clearing out the rotten eggs. Pretty much his first move was to make him captain and he's offered him a new contract. Pearce leaving will be Pearce's choice to move to better things, not Clarke clearing out anything.

Of course we will.

Pearce - has gone missing in many games, so Cooper wouldn't be a bad replacement.
Karacan - has been injured for 2 years. So what if he is club captain, means jack if you're not on the pitch / bench. Loan / replacement easy.
Feds - the best of the three. Will be a big loss but if he's been offered good £ for Prem then so be it. We'll find a replacement.

Feds, Pearce, HRK, Pog (and Williams/Karacan/McCleary/Gunter) are where the money is bleeding out, so losing Feds and Pearce, despite a first instinct of "loss" is really a good thing.

We can replace most of these with lower wages IMO (without a massive loss in quality).

Disagree that he's "gone missing" particularly often. Cooper has a lot of potential, but he can't tackle. If other clubs find that out before we sort it out then we'll be in trouble.

Eh... whilst we've coped without Karacan, we've also lost several of the players who helped cover for him. Most notably Guthrie, our best midfielder the season before last, but also Chalobah and Baird, and Clarke doesn't seem to rate Norwood or (thankfully) Akpan. We could use another option here even if Karacan stays.

The same Pearce who has the turning circle of a tanker, doesn't know which way the ball will go off his feet or his head, concedes about 5 penalties a year for pulling people back and looks so uncomfortable on the ball that it is painful to watch. OK - let's move on. (BTW - I don't think Cooper is the answer either). Perhaps Richard Dunne could do one more decent season in the Chump and keep Hector improving alongside him?

Karacan had one, maybe 1.5 decent seasons - both alongside Leigertwood. I think he will re-sign as I can't see any other Championship club offering him a big pay deal as he hasn't really shown much quality (though a lot of character and commitment); let's not forget we tend to see things a bit more favourably when a player comes through our own Academy
