Mid Sussex Royal
strap
higher I vaguely recall a 0-7 away win at Southport or somewhere millenia ago

Possibly you're thinking of the 8-0 win over them at EP in March 1970.

We've one away League win by 5 goals, a 6-1 win at Swansea 23/09/1989.

A couple of 6's. Last one was 6-0 at Plymouth 12/03/1949.

Did we score 5 at Tranmere the same season as the Southport 8-0?

Yes just after we lost 6-2 away at Southport.

Old Man Andrews
Hendo
Old Man Andrews Well he needs to stop trying to be clever. Anyone who misses an open goal is a bit of a donkey, commonly used phrase in football.

Odd how he missed an open goal when it was a crowded box with players between him and the goal and the shot got cleared off the line. If anything the goal was less open than all of his goals today.

He should have scored. End of discussion.

I don't want to club you in with our clueless supporters Hendo but I will if you insist.

I agree, he probably should’ve scored, but that wasn’t the argument you were making. You said he missed an open goal, which isn’t correct.

You could say the majority of chances a striker misses, they should score. But again, that’s a different argument than the one you were presenting.

Old Man Andrews
Royal Rother The Swift comment was good but I liked this one at 3.12pm as well.

Old Man Andrews Meite is a bit of a donkey....

After he'd just missed an open goal. Old twat.

That’s Mr Old Twat to you. Show some respect.

Thing is, it’s great - one of the absolute certainties on this board is that every time you express an opinion something will happen shortly afterwards to show you up for the fool you are.

Don’t ever change please, it’s become one of the pleasures of coming on here.

Just wondering the last time we had a 20+ goal striker, Meite has 5 games to get 4 goals . him and Puscas have 28 goals between, that's not too shabby in a struggling team.

Shane Long, 25 in 2010/11.

Kermorgant got 19 in 16/17

To be honest, it happens less than you think.

Last season 9 players achieved it throughout the whole Championship, which is the most this Century but more usually, only 3 or 4 players so.

May have been mentioned already, but when was the last time we’d had a player score 4 in a game ?
I remember John Alexander doing it years ago but must have been someone since then !

And an 8 goal swing across successive games can’t happen that often either.

Kerry Dixon may have been mentioned a few times, not least on Quest last night.

Yeah, in about 25 years I've not seen many 20+ goal players here and we've been plenty successful in that time.

Morley
Caskey
Cureton
Butler
Kitson
Sigurdsson
Long

And two of them were in the same season. No one has done it twice in that time.

And just before my time started Quinn and Lovell I think.

Dixon only a year or so after Alexander.
I see Alexander is now club secretary at Man United and is the uncle of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
And Dixon was born in Luton ....

One of my son's schoolmates came to the game where Alexander scored 4 and seemed bemused later that the player never went on to play for England (the boy was only about 10 at the time).

As for yesterday, am not sure if anybody has said it already but I thought the Puscas header was excellent.
The commentators didn't seem to appreciate the difficulty but as we were so far ahead by then they got a bit blasé.

What is Puscas on? 13? Very good return for 1st season in the Champions, but people can't wait to get on his back after a couple of bad games.

Agree with Vic about the Puscas header. He did really well to direct it into the net. He now has 12 goals and 3 assists. It would be good if he could reach 15 goals for the season. There is now a much better chemistry between him and Meite too.

JQ scored enough goals for half the league in 93-94 Lovell got 20 himself.

Yesterday, as had been said, proved that we need a well balanced side with a central midfield that can do the defensive side.

I was watching Pele and really noticed his positioning. How he pressed out of possession and showed for the ball.

I’d really like to keep him but if not we need a similar player in there.

As we discussed earlier in the season Rinomhota is wasted when given solely defensive responsibilities. His pace and power to drive forward with the ball makes him much more valuable as a Box to Box player. Thinking about it a DM is probably our no. 1 needed position (provided Obita stays).

I am a massive Swift fangirl but both Ejaria and Olise can play there. If we can sell him for good money it should immediately be spent on a DM. oxf*rd it i would even take Evans back. Shame we couldn't get Big Hec back. He would slot in perfectly.
