I have no problem with Swift going. He deserves a shot at the premier league.

But I'm really hacked off if we've accepted £3.5m though. He's easily worth double that if not more! Since Hammond left we've let them some players go on the cheap and been mugged off for average players.

We won't replace him for that much. £3.5m is worth £1m based in 2010 level fees. It's peanuts.

Hound I'd be happy for him to stay but I don't think he will. Or Obita.

Get rid of Obita he's rubbish now

Better then us saying no and him leaving on a free though,or him doing a "pierre van hooijdonk". We aren't in a position to say no.

He's got 2 years left on his contract why'd he go on a free?

If we don't accept that offer for him then he just gets a long term injury or just plays shit, we would be getting a lower offer.

Not rubbish just not fit enough to cope with the Championship. There is still a good player there and I dare say if he were to drop down to League 1 or go up to Scotland in the SPL he would look a million dollars.

Think he would be a good pick-up for a top-end league 1 club or club just coming up to the Championship. Which is a shame, because before his injury issues, he was one of our best prospects.

Yep absolutely. That playoff game at Fulham was his peak for us, one of the better performances in a Reading shirt in recent years.

Hound
genome According to Courtney Friday Barrow and Swift will free up £40k a week in wages, imagine Gunter and McCleary will be another £30k on top of that at least.

Yep, seems about right. If we can get rid of Moore and Aluko by whatever means, then that would probably be another 50k

Obita and Blackett is prob 20k+ between them as well.

Closer to 30k

Obita to me is such a shame to lose. He was a really good player hampered badly by crippling injuries and never been the same afterwards.

It's the same thing that has happened to Dean Ashton, Michael Owen and Torres and Fat Ronaldo. Bad injuries and never been the same afterwards.

tbh its a massive achievement from Obita to come back to be almost as good as he was considering the injury and poor initial recovery

Still, particularly on his current wage, he isn't really good enough for us sadly

People said the same thing about Aaron Ramsey and Luke Shaw in their first seasons back after bad injuries.
He might not make it back to the same level but I think it's a bit early to fully write him off

In reality it might be better for Obita's agent to negotiate a new deal with half the wage, how much is Obita going to get elsewhere realistically? I'd give him a new deal if the wages were dramatically reducedm, just a years extension. He is acceptable as a cover LB.

Aluko is a dilemma reckon he`s happy to sit on his arse for another season while picking up a decent wedge, also Baldock`s interview told us he`s on a decent wage too when he said he will definitely be here next season despite getting very little game time.

Baldock certainly sounds defiant. He can definitely add value to our squad, but he's not realistically worth his wage. I only way he'd leave is if someone else offers the security of a 2-3 year deal, which he may consider worth a pay cut.

We must be stuck with Aluko. Certainly won't get a fee for him.

Baldock's got a place depending on how we play. But not if we're going one up without a plan to shift to two upfront, whether it's 3-5-2 or 4-4-2. Unless maybe he's our answer to left wing, but that seems very unlikely.

Agree, not good value, and that will breed discontent as he's one of the higher earners.

Imagine being Meite - top scorer two years running and probably earning 5 - 10k a week less than a guy who doesn't always make the squad.

Decent age difference between them though and relative experience, if Meite keeps his performances up, I'd expect an improved contract to be offered which would take him level or above Baldock.

Also, if Meite's contract has a nice goal scoring bonus included, I am sure he has been comped to a satisfactory level

Simmops I know it most likely won't happen but we need to nab somebody like Rhian brewster or Connor Gallagher or Bukayo Saka. Both very good players Swansea an Arsenal youth player.

Saka?????

I said LIKE

I see. I think we should sign players like Watkins, Benrahma and Pereira. Not them obviously. Just players like them.

I can see someone coming in for Meite, ideally don't want to lose him as he has proven himself to be a very good player at Championship level. Can we resist a large bid? Doubtful.
