Mid Sussex Royal McCarthy looks decent for Southampton tonight....did he run his contract down or did we sell?

Pleased for him. No doubt another one for Luton to sell to the Premier League for big bucks... we shall see. Look forward to him scoring against us

According to the media in Luton, Osho apparently chose to not re-sign with Reading as he didn’t see a pathway for him at the club. Rather odd considering that he was a pretty good “1st choice” right back for the last 9 games or so plus given the ongoing issues with Yiadom’s injury and the departure of Gunter he would have been the obvious choice to continue with the shirt at the start of this season.

Yep, you’d expect that he would have played the games that Holmes has played and possibly meant we didn’t sign either Esteves or Gibson.

Old Man Andrews He was never really a good fit there.
Think someone like Nigel Adkins would do a really good job for Sunderland. Promotion specialist and experience of working under a tight budget.

Yeah, but - he knew he'd be at best 2nd choice RB - what he didn't know would be how many games the 2nd choice RB would end up playing. At the time it would have been a gamble staying. He actually only played in 4 or 5 of those post-lockdown games, and we'd signed Araruna, who was probably ahead of him. Having every RB in the club on the treatment table is a bit of a freak circumstance.

Just shows what an utter shit show Sunderland are. League 1 is a difficult league to get out of, not withstanding you've free fallen 2 divisions to get there and better clubs than Sunderland have struggled to do it and every one is gunning for them because they set themselves up as slumming it in that league. They need to restock and rebuild and give managers time and they've sacked 2 managers in 18 months for the heinous crime of not walking away with the league.
Fickle Northern monkeys.

Clubs like Sunderland won't get promoted until they accept their current position. They're L2, they need to be looking at - what managers are good at promotion from L2, what players are good in L2. But they still have delusions of being PL, but for a bit of bad luck. And I think some of their players think they're better than they are also

I’m not sure I understand. They’re in League 1, and their squad... looks like a League 1 squad? Only players with any real reputation are Grant Leadbitter (a solid pro), Aiden McGeady (not in the squad) and Danny Graham (who I’ll give you seems to be trading upon his reputation these days). You probably follow them more closely than I do but to me it looks like they are doing what you want.
