Bristol fans want Eddie Howe but Eddie is strongly linked with taking over from Neil Lennon at Celtic in the summer.
Bet365 have the following odds...
Paul Cook 5/4
Alex Neil 6/1
Eddie Howe 7/1
Danny Cowley 10/1
Michael Appleton 10/1
Nigel Pearson 11/1
Bristol fans are fcuking deluded then.
Paul Cook would be a sensible choice.
The Bristol City owner is extremely wealthy and , subject to FFP, he could afford to spend big on a new manager and a city the size of Bristol probably should have a Premier League club.
They have had time at the top level but not much and it will be interesting to see who they get in to deal with what no doubt will be referred to as a "project".
Bristol as a City with 2 clubs has not been good for top flight football.
Bristol City have just 9 top flight seasons (1906 to 1911 and 1976 to 1980) and the highest position achieved by the club was 2nd in 1906/07. For all but 2 seasons in division 4 (1982 to 1984) the rest of the time the club have yo-yo’d between divisions 2 and 3.
Bristol Rovers have avoided it altogether, their highest position was 6th twice in division 2 in the 1950s and have spent 19 seasons in division 2 and 10 in division 4 while the remaining 64 seasons (bar 1 season in the NL) have been in division 3.
