Sir JM saved our club in 1990. For me, even after 30 years at Elm Park, it will always be "The MadStad". The bloke is a total RFC legend.

Yea I think it all depends on how long the ground has been there, ie Loftus Road & St Andrews. St James too when the whole Sports Direct renaming nonsense happened.

But you don’t hear many call Stoke’s ground the Britannia, you now recognise that as the Bet 365. Same with Bolton & the Reebok, Hull with whatever there’s used to be called. Ours is a similar age to those, so the Mad Stad could easily get lost

Following that logic, maybe we should've called it New Elm Park.

If we want to compete in professional football we need to have the income to do so. It was absolutely crazy that we were getting absolutely nothing for the commercial naming rights of the stadium. I'm sure if it could've been done for reasonable financial reward the club would have happily gone for the '*one word brand name* Madejski Stadium'

I'm pretty sure that unless they have very good sources of alternative income, virtually every club in the football pyramid would sell the naming rights for their stadium/ground if the opportunity was there. The same would also apply to most other sports.

Even amateur sports/clubs face very considerable everyday running costs that are difficult to cover through membership and admission fees alone.
