Franchise FC I’m trying to think of a better CL game I’ve ever seen.
Absolute class from both teams and very little histrionics

Come to think of it, a better game at all

Italy v West Germany 1970, perhaps

Can’t wait fir the second leg

I think the Liverpool barca was as good with the comeback and goals

Obviously the Istanbul final was the best hands down and nothing will ever beat it

I think there have been some cracking games over the years, I even remember a malaga vs dortmund semi final that was mental good

**potential controversial opinion**

I don't think the Istanbul final was an amazing game of football for the neutral. Obviously had some real excitement due to how the game swung and the underdog making a comeback etc, but I am talking about the quality of football played, which wasn't brilliant, and the first half was just one team dominating. The comeback was 6 minutes of football out of 2 hours, and extra time was 2 knackered teams trying not to lose. The story that developed over the 2 hours and the underdog winning etc made it really exciting to watch, but it was how the evening swung one way and then the other that was good, rather than the quality on display

loosely related - only 3 games (moments) have ever got me literally out of my seat (sofa) with excitement when I have been a neutral. Aguero's league winning goal, Liverpool's 4th against Barca, Moura's injury time winner against Ajax. All 3 had me involuntarily jump up onto my feet, head in hands not quite believing what I have just seen

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

For me that final was in the top 5 games I have ever seen. It was insane.

I agree with your bottom bit of getting out the seat and going  :o

However my number one moment of that happening was the last minute of Watford Leicester with the whole penalty thing. That is hands down my favourite moment of football ever and I do not ever think it will be topped.

I think I must have walked around the room for 20 minutes rewinding it and rewatching it in utter disbelief.

Good spin off post - but Aguero for the reasons has to be right up there and yeah Deeney's moment also.

As for Reading - we had that against Swansea, just brilliant.

Deeney's is right up there as one of my very favourite non RFC/England football related moments, but I don't have a clear memory of watching it live at the time.

Makes it sweeter to see that pcunt Knockaert's face after diving for the penalty.

Don't knock him too much, sort of player who could easily end up here next season on loan.

Hope not. Even if he does, he'll still be a pcunt.

We could do a lot worse ability wise tbh.

Lucas Piazon could come back. He will get a heroes welcome.

Never really got the hate towards Pizaon. Was it just because of what he said after he left?

Think it is a combination of some truly awful displays, attitude after leaving and being a suspected sex offender.

also really love watching the video of the SSN pundit at the match trying to report on it. His wobbly voice, lack of knowing how on earth he is meant to even start describing what is happening, he goes from being someone trying to be professional to just being like an average joe who can only describe it in the way any of us would, and then glimpses of absolute pandemonium behind him as fans spill onto the pitch just adds to the chaotic wonderment that is going on there

Just watched it again. Genuinely makes me feel a little emotional each time I see it. You are watching people experience such heightened emotions, and its one of the greatest moments of their lives, one they will literally dream of and talk of for decades to come https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWyyFysTIgM

Was critical of Guardiola's early treatment of Foden, but you could argue that whatever he was doing, he got it spot on. Foden emerging as one of the best young talents in Europe now, and, on the basis of last night, a big game player. Vinicius Jr too, he's a scary prospect. Interested what approach Klopp takes with Harvey Elliott, whose own minutes have been limited since he returned from injury.

Got to think that is Man City don't go through then surely some of the blame has to be put on Mahrez. How he did not pass the ball to Foden when he was literally free with an open goal 6 yards out and decided to shoot with his right foot was an absolute shameful choice to make

Pep was rightly furious with him. Think Mahrez was very lucky once at city already when he missed that penalty against Liverpool and got bailed out by John Stones on the line and about 3mm that the ball didn't go in

Don’t think he was that bad on the pitch tbh, lightweight and ineffective at times but like so many of our players, just wasn’t used correctly

Think his attitude after leaving was more testament to our reaction to him, remember him being booed on the pitch when we lost 5-0 at Fulham, didn’t really kick off (in the loosest sense) until a while later

Interesting that when it comes to the big games Mahrez (and/or Foden) is chosen by Pep ahead of Sterling.
I think Mahrez is a fabulous player and whoever saw enough in him to warrant Leicester paying about £500,000 has some eye for a player.

City have been vulnerable at the back for some time but. like Liverpool, rarely get exposed because the other team hardly get to see the ball.
Now set up for another intriguing game next week and IMHO it is impossible to predict and to know how City players will react to the atmosphere in the light of how they were so unsettled the last time they were in Madrid.

I think they were more unsettled by the physical assaults than the verbal ones

They are a bit soft though whereas Liverpool were not intimidated by Athletico.
