Why does not having an academy mean they are more able to sign players from overseas?
I don't think it does actually make it any easier, could be wrong, but it obviously makes it easier for them to keep hold of their talents without having them being poached from better clubs/academies in England.
How does it make it easier to stop other clubs poaching players , apart from you can’t poach players that don’t exist ?
None of our players on pro contracts can be poached either.
It's because their B team sits outside the FA's Elite Player Development structure. They don't actually compete in a league, but play a series of friendlies against other U23 sides or other B teams. This leaves them exempt from the FA's rules meaning that their players cannot be poached by other clubs in their youth set up.
Obviously those who have a professional contract can't be, but those that aren't can be in the FA's model anyway.
