Queens Park top of the Scottish Championship. Not been in the top division since 1958 and have spent most of the last 30 years in the 4th division. They just lost the top scorer in the division to Ross County last night.

they fielded an ineligible player in the cup and are likely to get kicked out.

I don't know what money has been involved, but the club has completely changed direction since a members' vote in 2019 that turned it professional, having been the only remaining fully amateur team in the top four tiers. If they do win the Championship, it will be a third successive promotion, having finished fifth in League Two in the COVID-ended 2019-20 season.

Ayr United currently second in the table too, they've not been in the top flight since 1978, and came 8th in this division last season.

The Scottish Championship is a great league - it's spaced out a bit now, but just before Xmas there was one point between 2nd and 7th places. One team conceded a late equaliser and went from 2nd to 7th because of it!

Re Queen's Park, they’re playing at Stenhousemuir (34 miles away but almost literally the other side of the country) while Lesser Hampden is built.

If I lived in Scotland I would love to do a tour of lower league games. There are so many close together than if you are a football fan and not going to watch your own club, you have plenty of other grounds to choose from not far away at all

I took Mr Handbags, late of this parish of Hobnob on a tour of seven grounds around SW Glasgow when he was here in the summer. Very much enjoyed it. There are some brilliant old school grounds - Cappielow, for instance, which is my home ground and feels just like Elm Park in the 80s. But there are also some terrible ones (like the Toni Macaroni Arena, in Livingston).

Yep - and just below them there are some brilliant junior grounds too. Cowdenbeath (the Blue Brazil) and Berwick Rangers are notable as ex-league grounds, but then a couple of leagues down there are some real gems.

Largs Thistle, where there are no floodlights, so kick-off times vary throughout the year depending on the sunset time:

Didn't they fund the change to professionalism by selling Hampden Park to the SFA for £5m, which also paid off all their debts and funded the renovation of Lesser Hampden?

Yep - should be complete by the end of this season, too.

Juve fans have mobilised in protest against the Italian FA over their points deduction and are encouraging fans to cancel their tv subscription to Serie A matches. It is believed 500,000 have so far cancelled.

an interesting idea I guess. I wonder if it actually has an impact though
