Winston Biscuit Deportivo La Coruna on a good run in the Spanish 3rd div. looked like play offs were likely to be their best bet for quite a while but the others at the top have all been dropping points recently and they are now up to 3rd place, 2 points off the top

Used to play Sunday-league football many moons ago, and when we moved from The Moderation to The Star in Caversham, we named the team Deportivo La Star, in honour of The Star's Galician Deportivo fanatic Tony. Lovely guy and a really underrated pub. Brewco owned the pub, he was just the landlord. He actually owned the Fox and Hounds before he sold to Kev/Two Bridges and retired back to his homeland.

RIP The Star.

Sudtirol update - they are sponsored by a local apple company, so when interviewed they display them and they give them to away teams

3rd consecutive loss in all comps for PSG last night (CL last night)

They have won 2 of the last 6 competitive games, and 5 of the last 11.

Barcelona appear to be truly 'back', on the domestic front at least. Xavi has to take a lot of credit for turning around things around. As must whoever pushed for the signing of Jules Kounde. Barcelona have still only conceded seven league goals this season, in 21 games, and three of those were at the Bernabeu in October.

No opponent has scored in open play at the Nou Camp this season. Only Espanyol have managed a goal, from the penalty spot.

Barcelona found to have been making off the books payments between 2014-18 totalling €1.4M to a company owned by José María Enríquez Negreira, who at the time was the Spanish FA's VP and who held the responsibility for selecting which refs officiated which games.

Isn’t that similar to what the Italian teams were doing when Juve got relegated?

Spanish newspaper El Mundo alleges to have access to a legal document sent by Negreira to Barcelona where he threatened to uncover a great "scandal". "If there is no agreement...all the irregularities, which I have experienced first hand, will come out."

Javier Tebas, President of the Spanish FA:
we are going to respect the investigation that the Prosecutor's Office is going to hold, but it not possible for sanctions to exist because five years have passed between 2018 and 2023 and this type of sanctions prescribe after three years

he confirmed that in 2022 the Spanish FA changed their rules to say that any alleged corruption more than 3 years old cannot even be looked into by them

Hatayspor and Gaziantep have both pulled out of the Turkish Superlig following the earthquake

Hatayspor is in Antioquia, of which the majority has apparently been flattened and the stadium is now used to house victims in tents

I hope they are going to be welcomed back into it when the time is right?

Turkish FA apparently said they will review the situation after the season ends. Currently no official date for when football can resume in Turkey. First of all there was a 10 day break announced after the earthquake but since then they have just said all future games are postponed with an aim to get started again in early March

Mönchengladbach 3-2 Bayern

Union Berlin go top tomorrow with a win against bottom of the table Schalke

Very much a 6 way race for the title now

Osasuna fan is heard calling Vinicius Jr a son of a bitch during a minutes silence for the victims of the Turkey/Syria Earthquake.

Wouldn't be surprised if he quits La Liga with the amount of grief he gets every away game

Union only draw and bearing a late Hertha fightback Dortmund have won, so Bayern, Dortmund and Union all tied on 43.

Top 6 have broken away from the rest and are separated by just 5 points.

Next week sees 4 of the top 6 play each other as Bayern host Union and Eintracht go to Leipzig.
