mumbo-jumbo Lots of thoughts this morning
Wondering what the new style of ownership will actually look and feel like. How often will the new owners be over. how will information be released regarding club news, budgets, signings, short and long term targets etc. After the DY years of radio silence we must all be hoping for far more communication and sharing with fans and I for one would welcome a ''chatty'' owner. Hopefully there will be a Couhig media release sooner rather than later; I guess when the final bits of paperwork are done?
The bar as to what would constitute a "good" owner is pretty low after our experiences over the last few Years, but for me the following will be key:
1. Pay the staff's wages on time, every month.
2. Pay HMRC on time.
3. Invest where it can help the team (ie: overnight travel/accommodation before away games; hot food available for players at the training ground)
4. Explain to the fans what the vision for the club is (Jacobsen stated stability in the club's finances, and thats more than we heard in 5 Years) and the plans to achieve that vision.
5. Clear communication as to what happens with the Academy and the Women's team.
6. Create a regular channel of communications to the fans, both directly and through the local media
7. Have some ideas for the raising of additional revenues (ie: other uses for the ground such as concerts in the Summer etc)
8. Sort out the contracts of key players
9. A message of support for Noel/confirmation that he is remaining Manager for at least the remainder of his contract
Whilst I am - like everyone else - ecstatic DY has gone, I fear that there are still hard financial times to come, certainly short term, and we have to give the new ownership time to get to grips with things.
