Popped up on Twitter this morning that Vale lead the race and he looks set to sign a 2 year deal there but was from one of those accounts with about 6 people following.

If it really is us or Vale, and he goes Vale, that will tell us a lot. Meaning no disrespect to them.

They were in L2 last season and we finished 7th. And have far better facilities.

that we are being naive in the transfer market and are low balling players with our wage offers?

I was going with how tight we're being with finances to get things on track and how those in the game perceive our chances this season.

I would think Port Vale would be expected to finish bottom half and I would assume have more established striking options, so a harder time to establish minutes in first XI.

I wouldn’t say naive. We know Carey is astute.

Mostly played for midlands and northern based teams - not sure of his family situation, but that may play a deciding factor.

I'm sure the majority of people will consider that point as well, and not just jumping to the conclusion that the club have fucked up again...

He's been offered a 2 year deal by Vale, we won't match that.

200k transfer fee being reported. Clearly too rich for us

Nice to see we can't compete financially with a club whose statue our fanbase had to pay for...

Were we 100% definitely even in for him?

Also hes from that part of the world, so every chance even if we have/had matched or even bettered terms he may want to live somewhere between Stoke and Manchester - so playing for Vale would make sense.

Whilst we do seem to be trying to do things cheaply, not every player will make a decision based purely on the financials.

Was an interesting interview with some guy from Wrexham who said that whilst they offered Paul Mullin decent wages for him to join in the National League, the clincher was the fact he could also live near home (Liverpool) and if they had been based on the South Coast, there is no way he would have joined.

Indeed. And probably the main reason he's joined Wigan on loan this season.

God knows, only ever seemed to be a twitter rumour and now they're all up in arms that we've 'missed out', 'been outbid' etc

Then let’s hope this club weren’t ever really interested in him.

I'd bring Jahmari Clarke back tbh. Not sure why we let him go I liked him. Maybe I should've made that more clear.

tbf Jahmari's still only 21 but, given the rate he's been getting through NL clubs, his attitude must be pretty suspect...

Puscas vs. Cardiff and Clarke vs. Brum, two flashes in the pan.

Yay, let’s get a player back who has managed 1 goal and a whopping 7 appearances across 4 non league clubs in less than 1 year

As suggested above, think there might be an attitude problem somewhere.
