Ascotexgunner Wish we could buy or loan Sam Smith back....gonna be surplus to requirements at Wrexham.

I don’t think it will be a loan we will keep that space free. Parks has always seemed to rotate his strikers at Wrexham so even with additional signings he will be one of the 4 in that rotation. Unfortunately I think that for this year this is not likely to happen.

Hound What’s first choice now I wonder - maybe

JP
Abrefa Burns O Connor Jacob
Wing Savage
Doyle
Lane O Mahony Kelvin

Stevens, Elliott, Stickland, Kyerewaa, Fraser, new CF?, Ritchie?

In reserve: Ryan, Camara, Dorsett, Rushesha, Osho, Ahmed, Yiadom, Borgnis, Sackey, Tuma…

It’s pretty strong. Just don’t play too high a line

I'm not seeing Jacob as working alongside Burns and o'Connor, otherwise... yeah.

Elliott has to start, if he stays fit he will be a big player this season.

Any starting XI without Elliott in it is a wrong starting XI.

Who do you drop for him? Because its not Wing, Savage, Doyle or Lane.

Doyle on the flank and drop Kelvin or you drop Savage.

hughsies no.1 Doyle on the flank and drop Kelvin or you drop Savage.

I'd probably go with this, but all reports clearly say Doyle is best through the middle.

At some point an injury will make the decision easier, though if Wing is injured it has to be Fraser I think.

Also gives us the option to rotate, rather than knackering out our best players as we've had to to the last couple of seasons

Work should be underway in training on creating a partnership/understanding between Doyle and Elliott.

Absolutely should not put midfielders out on the wing to accommodate everyone

It’s great we have that depth. Elliott will play plenty but as yet I’ve not seen him do enough to be first 11 every week. Savage and Wing are better

There's no way we'd drop Savage for Elliott at this point. Savage has been outstanding for quite some time.

I think injury has meant Elliott has missed his chance and will have to take it from the bench or an injury.

Don’t see why we can’t play a mid field 3 of savage Elliott and wing. With lane and Doyle on the wings.

Difficult to say without seeing Doyle in action, but Elliott is the only player in the middle who travels with the ball. It was light and day after he went off on Saturday. Hopefully Doyle can do that, as realistically there's little chance of Elliott of playing 30+ league games this season.

Other than Wing, I'm not convinced there's any player guaranteed to start in centre midfield. It will be 2 from Savage, Elliott, Fraser and Doyle, which hopefully minimises injuries and keeps them on their toes.

It seems unlikely we'd go through all the palaver of re-signing Kelvin if he wasn’t going to be a serious first XI player. And Doyle is supposed to be more of a 10 than a winger.

Crowbarring people in out of position to accommodate Elliott and Doyle, when Elliott hasn't really done a lot to justify a first team place just seems unlikely.

But we'll see how things develop over the next few weeks and what Hunt has in mind, I guess.

Well I hope you’re wrong and kelvin is not in the first team as he’s done absolutely nothing to warrant having a first team place imo. But as you say we shall see. And football is about differing opinions. it’s nice that Noel has options to choose from.

Same is true of Elliott though surely? Lots of potential but can’t remember him winning is a game etc

We all know that we'll see Kelvin, Camara and Dorsett all starting for the foreseeable even though the new signings are, at least on paper, better

Absolutely.

Kelvin has 12 goals and 3 assists in 52(25).
Elliott has 2 goals and 5 assists in 29 (29)

Kelvin's record is fine, though he needs to step it up a bit.
