Maybe not an important game in terms of defining our season but losing to a local rival regardless of the competition isn't good.
I hear you, but come on Swindon aren't really serious rivals anymore than Aldershot are.
Good for the odd "so we stab 'em" chant now and then but that's about it.
Perfect opportunity for Hunt to try out different players. I'd be disappointed if he didn't.
In fact if you really do still care abotu little old Swindon I can 't think of a better way of sticking it them than not taking games with them too seriously.
We have never taken the competition seriously. Not many teams do. Last season we put development teams out against everyone. I actually enjoy seeing the youngsters getting a run out, which should be done in an atmosphere without pressure and a fear of failure. It is mental to think that just because it is Swindon, we will put a stronger side out. It is a development cup. It has no bearing on anything apart from giving young players experience of playing first team football.
It needs to be done in an environment where there is pressure and also a fear of failing, or they may as well stick to playing at Bearwood. And tbf that’s what it was last night so it wasn’t a bad opportunity for them
My issue is I can’t see JOP, Sackey, Spencer or Borgnis getting a league appearance this season. Maybe Sackey if lots of injuries.
Would have said Evans as well but slight chance he may if he progresses
Therefore don’t see the point in playing them. Wait to next season if and when they are closer to the first 11
It would have been used for the likes of Kyeweraa and Elliott to get another run out. Kyeweraa to try to locate that end product and Elliott to put Saturdays disastrous effort behind him
