WestYorksRoyal Leandro Bacuna will captain Curacao at the world cup next year. Some achievement for them to qualify.

Obviously Steve Clarke will be there too.

And Clement - he's assistant manager of Brazil.

They've really dumbed down the competition haven't they.

I'm looking forward to the still possible, mouth watering match-up between New Caledonia & Uzbekistan on the biggest stage.

Taken him a while to get a new club. Best of luck to him.

Was at Forest Green Rovers last night to see Charlie’s dad make the earliest substitutions I have ever seen. FGR took kickoff, booted it straight into touch and then made 2 subs. Royals connection is that one of the subs was Harry Cardwell who seemed a lot taller than he was when he was with us (or perhaps FGR are a below average height team making him look taller)
As they were playing Nottm Forest I suspect this might be the first game between two sides called Forest. I doubt anyone keeps records of these things.

Was that in the National League Cup? Seems to have similar rules regarding squad strength as the EFL Trophy.

I take it Kanu didn't play in that if it was.

He did that in a previous cup game as well.

It was, and he didn’t.
I was expecting the early sub, although it was still a bit weird seeing a sub stood waiting at kick off. The guy coming off was stood waiting to walk straight off.

How does RS justify it?

Not sure he has to….
But I guess it allows him to play the team he wants rather than a team within the restrictions of the competition.

Yeah, if he wants to dick about and use subs to play the match with a team that's ineligible to start, that's on him. And the consequence is he has fewer subs to manage the rest of the game.

With 7 subs available using 2 early seems a pretty innovative thing to do to strengthen his team. I don’t see how it deserves accusations of ‘dicking about’. He had 2 subs not used by full time so it seems the paltry 5 options he was left with from minute 2 onwards allowed him to manage the game to his satisfaction.
Although of course they lost….
2 subs early on seems no dafter than chucking a couple on with a few minutes left, which happens all the time without comment.
I don’t really care if it was the ‘right’ thing to do, it was something I’d not seen before.

So I take it that these clubs are forced to select a starting XI with a certain number of players who played in the previous league game so the clubs try to get round it by subbing off a number of those particular starters as soon as possible?

Another stupid competition none of the clubs must want then, esp. with these stupid rules, surprised they don’t try it with the FA and League cups though.

They can't do it with the FA and League Cups because the big Prem teams won't like it.
