LUX Plus one re Villa, definitely my first choice.

Arsenal cannot throw it away surely?

Losing to villa was always possible and city beating Sunderland was certain so it was always feasible, now let`s see what happens next week when Arsenal host Wolves and city travel to Palace, it`s only early December, no team has ever won the league before Christmas.

Having not seen the table in a while, things that surprised me.

Just how close it is at the top, I thought apart from Arsenal the others were further back.

Everton 5th

Bournemouth dropped to 13th

I’m no fan of Leeds but I like to see ‘established’ premier league teams get relegated so pleased to see they have picked up a few points.

I’d love West Ham to go down, Brentford and Fulham, I’ve nothing against but as a neutral seeing others being drawn into the mix would make it interesting.

Championship wise, Norwich really are in a spot of bother

Pompey / Oxford happy to see either or both go

If Emery had been afforded a fraction of the patience and money Arteta has had I’m convinced Arsenal would have won the league by now.

Following Wenger with a massive rebuild required was always going to be a tough gig initially. Same applies to Moyes at Utd to a lesser degree. Set up to fail before they bring in a more trendy “super coach”

Villa look very strong. Didn't win any of their first five, and have won nine out of ten since. In fact that defeat at Anfield looks like an aberration now. Fixture computer not kind to them - they go to Chelsea and then Arsenal over four days after Xmas. Could be top of the league at the turn of the year.

Shambles for Liverpool, who had the game won twice. Konate is a shadow of his best.

Salah might have played his last game for the club. Incredible interview after the game, he's dropped a grenade. I don't see how he comes back into an Arne Slot team now. What a way for his incredible career at Liverpool to end, if that's it. That being said - Van Dijk has spoken in his support. Might be the manager who makes way.

General fixture question - does anyone know why there is always a club that someone plays twice in a few weeks, around Xmas? For Villa, it's Arsenal, who they play twice in December. Liverpool host Leeds on New Years' Day having played them yesterday. Surely the fixtures could be run in broadly the same order in the second half of the season?

Maybe a little bit of a false position for Millwall in the Championship? Ten wins this season, but eight of them by a single goal. They manage to be third in the table and yet with a negative goal difference, having lost 4-0 twice and 3-0 once.

It has ever been thus, see our Peterborough fixtures too. I like to think it's the fixture planners yearning for the days when teams used to play someone on Boxing Day and the reverse fixture was on the 27th! But this is as close to that as they can get away with these days

South Coast Royal Watched the Villa v Arsenal game.
You wouldn't have known Arsenal were playing anybody else the amount of gushing that the commentator did about them.
He kept on about their movement when through midfield Villa's movement and creation of space was better IMHO.

On the balance of play I thought Villa just about edged it with the chances made and near misses and fortunately the result means that Arsenal are not now well clear at the top especially with City seemingly cruising to victory this afternoon.

Currently, 3 points between Arsenal, City, and Villa.

Some run Villa have been on since that awful start (Aug to end of Sept)

Be great to see Villa win the title

Crazy to think John McGinn could win the premier league and World Cup in the same year

If Player of the Year were decided now then McGinn would be a strong candidate.

He has been outstanding for club and country and uses so much energy that he usually needs to be subbed on about 70 minutes but in those 70 minutes he has contributed often more than others do in 2 full games.
With all the talk about Rice being the best midfielder around I would have McGinn above him-top player.

Looking back, our win against LFC doesn't look so good, nor the loss against Everton so bad!

Bonkers season so far

Everton in a false position-they will struggle to make the top half IMHO and what a dull side they are to watch.

As for Bournemouth they have only managed 2 points from the last 18 and some of the more realistic fans, rather than those who really did believe that they would qualify for Europe this season, are looking to their next home game v Burnley as a must win game to keep a healthy distance from the relegation places.

If Semenyo goes to the AFCON their goal threat diminishes greatly even if his recent record of 0 goals in 7 could mean that his suitors might not come calling in January.
Evanilson is a shadow of the player he was last season.

when does the 'I fear for them, I really do' season start btw? are Sky pundits contractually obliged to use that for teams near the bottom from February or earlier?
