WestYorksRoyal This has so far proven a pointless signing. I feel like he could add something to the side, but if he's not fit enough after a month, will he ever play?

Er... he has played. Presumably the reason he wasn’t in the squad today is because he's off to Africa shortly.

3 minutes injury time when the game was won....and he travelled with the team today. He was available.

Richardson said they were still “getting him up to speed”. Seems odd that Fraser is considered fitter and even Williams who joined at the same time. Don’t know if the latter had a pre-season somewhere but he looks fitter than anyone.

It's a bizarre thing to say when he's been on the bench multiple times and brought on to see out a game with a clean sheet. And he looked fine albeit in only a few minutes.

Williams was knocking around for a whilewith usand played two or three youth games before getting signed didn’t he?

He travelled as the spare man. I think he heads off on Monday.

Leam has advised the Chronic that he hopes to have Andy playing a half for the 21s on Saturday.

I guess he was a free agent, then time out for a family emergency. He must be well short of the required fitness level.

Hopefully he's ready in a couple of weeks as I can see him making a real impact in this team.

Seems he was close to being regularly involved before the family emergency, as he was on the bench for a few games; came on at Blackpool; and was in Zimbabwe's Afcon squad. Hope he's not too long, as I agree he could make a positive impression for us this season.

Does indeed start for the U 21’s today- they have said they will give him 45mins only.

Leam says Andy will have to bide his time as this was his first 45 minutes this season and he’s very wary of soft tissue injuries that might end his season prematurely if not managed back properly. So presume that means he’ll get another run out or two in the unders and random bench places with the first team.

I expect he'll be involved in Monday's U21 game at Sunderland and the game against Arsenal the following week.

With that in mind, I'd expect the earliest we'll see him will be against Bradford on the 28th February.

This has felt like one of the most pointless signings this season unless Leam reckons he has a part to play for the final run-in

Neither the player nor club were aware he was essentially going to lose a month due to a family issue. Leam has said Andy is still part of things going forward but he’s obviously not going to be risked until his fitness has been properly built up, perhaps he may turn out to be the catalyst for a play off win.

I know a few people have an inexplicable hard on for hating him, but this really is a stupid comment given he's played 20 games (and has a goal and an assist).

I’m fully aware of that. But “playing” 20 games and actually impacting 20 games are not the same thing.

That’s the real frustration, that he’s been picked 20 times despite offering so little in the previous 19, while other squad members who may have performed better have been given fewer opportunities.
MoM scored a goal, does that mean he should have got another 9 games?

Normally I wouldn’t let it get to me, but his total ineffectiveness and, frankly, the lack of anything consistently positive feels like a reflection of the manager’s philosophy.

Yes, he’s scored one goal. But how many sitters has he missed? How many times has he turned down a forward pass? How often has he given the ball away? On Saturday alone he passed it straight to a Wycombe player, gifting them a free shot on goal.

It increasingly feels like a player who follows instructions, passes backwards, and keeps shape is preferred over someone willing to take risks and try to make something happen, even if that means occasionally failing.

Whether that approach is logical or not is beside the point. Football support isn’t always rooted in logic, it’s about wanting to see intent, bravery, and a genuine attempt to move the game forward.
