South Coast Royal Watched just the first half last night and once again Newcastle didn't turn up away from home.
I have said before on here how I am amazed that Eddie gets so little criticism for the performances of a so-called top club.
Newcastle are now around the places in the table where Frank, Silva and Farke all get heavy criticism but , despite spending big, Eddie and Jason get quite an easy ride, presumably on the back of them winning the competition where most clubs put out their reserve teams.
I wonder if the wealthy owners are happy with just a League Cup from their investment.

+1, They finished 12th on 45 points under Steve Bruce. On their current form, they will finish with 46 points. That's after spending 100s of millions!!

Tha Geordie Nation will divent be having it like!!
Loosely related - i know a mackem who is Sunderland fan and we chat football sometimes. He seems to really hate Geordies and his go-to insults for them always involve them having gravy down their tops, which makes me chuckle. I have asked why this is and he said its a standard thing up in the north east, Geordies just always have gravy down their front.

What do mackems have down their tops?
The bitter tears of indignation and envy.
They're obsessive about how irrelevant they think Newcastle are.

Until you live down this way nobody realises how intense (and daft) the rivalry and animosity is between Saints and Pompey which was originally based on the competition for business between the two docks.
Similarly there is still some between Southampton and Liverpool for the same reason and it must be one of the longest distance rivalries in football.
BTW FDTW having lived where you are now for some time I guess you might still even be a bit surprised at the lack of intense rivalry between the reds and the blues of Liverpool, unlike in many other cities.
Those scousers are just so sophisticated aren't they.?
