Sutekh I asked AI which Reading players were currently injured and it said….

Ben Elliott Injured Has not played since October 25, 2025.
Matty Jacob Injured Absent since an injury during a match against Carlisle United.
Liam Fraser Returning to training Long-term injury but recently seen training with the squad.

and also

Paddy Lane is currently out with an injury. His injury status has been cited as problematic, as recent updates indicate he is facing some challenges in returning to play. Specific details about the nature of the injury or the timeline for his return have not been disclosed.

So where`s O`Mahony then? as bad as he is he has to be a better option then Kelvin.

All of which is worthless because it's generative ai just creating a plausible string of words based on what it's learnt the internet spouts

He’s just not is he?

Mom just didn’t seem to get any chances or add anything really. Don’t know if he could actually finish as he barely even got himself an opportunity

Very much a case of absence makes a player seem better and better.

So this (below) is why AI is just as b******s as Wiki or HobNob or the BBC for information:

I asked it specifically about MOM’s injury status….

Mark O'Mahony is currently injured due to a strain in his oblique muscle. He is expected to miss four to five weeks of play. O'Mahony sustained the injury during a match against Swansea at the end of November and has already missed subsequent matches with Portsmouth, where he was on loan before moving to Reading.
He is back with Brighton & Hove Albion, and further evaluations will be conducted by their medical staff to guide his recovery.

But we can at least be sure that any of the above can definitely be ruled out of the “search for MOM”.

What is it about AI being generative and not factually reliable that people don’t understand?

It builds a plausible sounding response word by word, it doesn’t do research or investigate stuff. It’s not some secretly all know oracle of delphi.

Its a convincing lie tool not a fact finder

It's probably the term 'intelligence' which implies something much greater than there actually is and most people not understanding the basics of how it works.

Thoughts with Orion at this difficult time for him.

Obviously not good news if true, but I do think teams can handle these things better if they're generally more settled, which we are now compared to when Burns played earlier in the season. We won games last season with Stickland and Kanu playing.

I'd prefer Dorsett played alongside O'Connor than Burns. So it's a bugger Jacob got injured as we don’t really have a suitable left back to cover. Ryan doesn't seem up to it yet and Garcia's not a great defender.

Burns is just too slow and awkward. Williams could cover his limited pace with his anticipation and experience.

Switching to back three with wing backs might work better

Ryan’s done as well Ian if you remember - Achilles I think

Not good news, think Derrick has been out pots by a distance. Second time he’s had a significant injury though

Burns and Dorsett or even Stickland can do a job but they aren’t his level.

Headache for LR this one. Think he’ll go the easy option of Burns to start with and see from there

Wasn’t John Clarke supposed to be for about this time? Assuming that’s not happening

Now that would be fantastic as a comeback to step in and nail down LB, but seems the stuff of fantasy.

(Yes forgot about Ryan)

I'd still send Burns back in Jan (just don't rate him) and look to bring in either a CB (preferably with pace) or a LB asap (or both).

Doyle is growing into the team. MOM surely has to go back?

Depends how the agreement is worded. Heard that Villa have changed their mind over wanting Elliott but the loan agreement puts a financial penalty on Villa if they cut the loan short. Ridiculous position for the player, he wants games to put him in the “England eye” but now he’s stuffed, even if Liverpool/Villa came to an agreement he’d just be back in Slot’s silly gang of “those I will not select unless I am really really desperate”.
