Eastleigh 1 Aldershot 4. Low quality game but featuring 3 former RFC players for the Shots. Boyce-Clarke in goal, his handling was quite tidy. He didn’t have a great deal to do although he charged out of his area unnecessarily allowing Blair to equalise. James Henry was anonymous and was substituted. Josh Barrett had a very good game used the ball well and found space intelligently it’s a shame he’s in such poor physical shape as there’s a decent player there.
Eastleigh are really poor with very little quality other than Blair and Saunders up front.

Agreed with all of that. I was at the Eastleigh Vs Halifax game on Saturday and they were much improved. They lost 3-2 but the a very poor penalty by Blair at 2-1 down shifted the momentum. Up until that point Eastleigh were very much on top and creating chances (the 2 Halifax goals were well worked - but against the run of play and on the counter).

Eastleigh dropped Aaron Pierre (apparently the 5th highest earner in the NL) for the much more mobile Temi Eweka, and they seemed to be playing Lloyd Humphries further back to protect (and receive the ball from) the back four - and they looked much tidier in posession.

They won't trouble the play offs, but i'd be surprised if they got dragged (too far!) into a relegation battle.

Non league clubs paying loan fees ? Not a chance….. players go out as a learning experience, parent club continues to pay their wages as well.

- in truth there wasn’t obviously that much difference between the two on the field – if anything City looked brighter in possession
- SS had a sterner backbone though and prevented too many chances , picking their hosts off late on with some quality play from midfield.
- City seem to have spent sensible money uplifting the ground – bar essentially the same size but adequate for STEP02
- they’ve been up at that level more or less through the 10’s and 20’s even had a brief ‘flirtation’ last term at STEP01
- pitch is a 3/4G so had no issues with the weather
