Wing is obviously quality on the ball when he has time and he's scored some absolute belters for us but he is so unsuited to this high press game its untrue. I actually think we'd look more balanced with Fraser deep and savage/doyle/elliot with him but I dont think that is ever going to happen.

Other than that, pretty even game overall, everyone ran themselves into the ground. And what looked like an incredible game winning block by williams near the end.

Still a bit unconvinced by Jacob, he's fine but doesn't seem to be an improvement over either dorsett or Garcia so bit of a pointless use of a loan spot.

Have to say, we were lucky to win that game. Leyton Orient looked the best side I've seen us play this season, especially when it came to passing the ball around; they just lacked that cutting edge today.

We fought well; looked better defensively and made some effective substitutions for a change. Certainly a confidence boosting result, even if the performance for most of the game was lacking.

Many of the fans on that side of the ground didn`t have a clue there were 10 minutes added on at the end, whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be looking for a new job next week.
I put my fingers in my ears when there were 5 subs to be announced in the 2nd half.

A win is a win, was it deserved? Possession 29% Reading 71% Orient!! probably a draw was a fair result but good teams find a way to win and we did exactly that.

Positives: Williams is a monster in defense. Burns had a stella last 20 minutes, Impact subs made a difference, Marriott showing what we were missing.

Negatives: Midfield balance and getting totally overrun again, 29% possession at home! Our full backs getting rinsed again

I would like to know if its Hunt or Wing who insist on persisting with playing Wing as a DM when its clear to see our midfields balance isn't right and costing the team!! We have Wing and Fraser playing back to front positions which clearly isn't working!!! Either change formation to 4-2-3-1 or resort to default positions please.
My only other point of note, i would have pulled Marriot late on as he was spent and at risk of injury. O'Mahoney would have been a good option late on to inject fresh legs up top.

Anything out of Stockport will be a huge step in the right direction.

Marriot was the first player since George Puscas in 2019 to score in his first two games. That’s now 3 in 3. Who was the last player to score in their first three games for the club?

Jack's first game for us was when he came on as a sub against Port Vale in which he didn't score, so he didn't score in his first two games. First two starts perhaps?

He's not cup tied, the latest EFL cup rules state a player can represent two different clubs in the competition. There's some caveats about it but Marriott is able to play if required.

Good result, not a great performance but we're a squad, and club, in transition so it will take a fair while to see us looking more settled. I think some people are losing sight of that.

New signings are looking good and will still take some time to bed in, but they're leaders and will help the younger players develop and get through games.

The kids on the mic, I didn't mind that much. Compared to DJ Megaparty they were decent, and I bet they had one of the best days of the lives which I am sure will make them fans for a long time to come, which is what it's all about. If your matchday experience is that affected by some announcements on the PA, I think you need to get a life.

Jack Marriott is a good 'un - after the match he went over to speak to someone he knew in the crowd in Lower West.

As he was finishing up all the ball boys and girls filed past him and he high fived each and every one of them which I thought was a nice (pretty much unseen) touch

I like Marriott, he's obviously not got the legs or shithousery of Smith, but he so often makes good decisions and plays smart.

I genuinely think his goal was a case of him seeing the keeper out of position and taking a chance. They had a very similar chance that Pereira got down to and slapped out to safety. Pereira was set and well positioned, their keeper wasn't and was scrambling.

He's not going to win a lot of high balls against CBs, but I think his hold up play and touch is better than Smith's. And he's clinical.

Ritchie looks to me like the absolute perfect player to come on for 10 - 20 minutes and help you see out a game. Can't see him fitting into a starting line up well, maybe at fullback.

Hopefully Lane isn’t out for long, he didn't create an awful lot, but he is crucial to the press and break. And hope Williams isn’t out, he's largely been a revelation and I was looking forward to seeing him and O'Connor together.

We're getting there. Just need get that extra goal to make a lead comfortable more often.

Strange as I often see things much as you do but I thought our front 3 was a real issue yesterday. Marriott’s all round game isn’t up to much, though he clearly has a good eye for goal. But he has to start. Ritchie has to start asap for me, to replace Kyeweera and I’d give Lane another chance or two but Kelvin made a massive difference yesterday when he came on there, and not sure you can 3 small players up top like we had

Can’t see how Camara finds his way in; sadly for him; and would prob go back to Garcia as our left back

My front 4 would be Doyle, Lane/Kelvin, Marriott and Ritchie

Bearing in mind the appalling level of refereeing seen this year, I thought the referee was excellent yesterday.

And, Hunt needs to stop constantly moaning about decisions and concentrate on improving performances to negate the "luck" percentage.
Something I liked about Selles ethos. (this is not a call for him to return BTW)
