papereyes Middlesboro, last season, played a team of youth players against Fulham. If that didn't contain 8 Englishmen I'd be surprised.

Aston Villa beat Arsenal 3-2, I think to go top of the table in Dec 1998.

Last game of last season. Their youth team. And Colin Cooper. According to Soccerbase, all English.

Dickie's Spear In defence of Reading, Spurs played very well indeed, and would have carved up many other premier league teams on the day.
So perhaps despite some grey areas, Reading were'nt as bad as some say?.

Hoop Blah I thought we were well beaten and looked like a team off the pace and a little ring rusty.
Halford looked pretty good. As others have said he got caught out defensively a few times but that's not that surprising as everyone coming into our back four has done the same this season. On the ball he looked pretty comfortable and composed, there really is a similarity to Shorey in that respect, and I don't think he's actually as slow as he looks. He looks a very good prospect and a good pre-season and further coaching in the Reading way of defending could see him really put pressure on Murty, and Little for that matter, next season.
Lita again looked like a forward who can only operate in the penalty box. He's really improved his work rate but his ability to hold onto the ball and contribute to build up play still needs to sharpen up to demand the starting place his finishing deserves. I thought Kitson was clearly the better of the two and he showed signs that he can play at this level with his link up play being at the heart of most of our good play.
As others have said, the midfield was totally dominated, lets just hope it was a one off or a kick up the rear if they think the season is over.
Coppell has said many times in the past that the way you finish a season can have a massive impact on the start of the next season so I expect him to push the team to the final day to keep our momentum over the summer. If we don't I fear the dreaded second season syndrome.

RG30 We didn't play brilliantly but I think it's a good sign that we were still able to create chances. I recall 3 very good ones, 2 of which fell to Lita and he should have done better on.
The penalty was a joke, it wasn't intentional and I didn't even see any Spurs players calling for it. The inconsistency is what annoys me.

ScottishRoyal 2WW1WCHowever to be fair it seems like they scored a perfectly good goal, which was wrongly deemed offside so as it happens we deserved to lose anyway - possibly.
Well arguable not. Berbatov was clearly offside and made a definate move towards the through ball. He must have only been 4yds from the ball when Defoe shot so Federici wouldn't have been sure which angle to close down (and yes I know he'd go to the ball).
