International breaks

Why not scrap these stupid things entirely?

Instead make August the month for the games to be played thus pushing the start of domestic season back to the start of September. You then get the Saturdays and midweeks, that these irritatingly dull things fill up during a season, back and we get a nice unbroken league season back where clubs and players can concentrate on the domestics.

Also curtails clubs whining on about how the transfer window is still open when a season starts.

I thought I couldn't dislike anything as much as the 'philosophy' years, but the '-ball' suffix years is breaking my brain

It's a shame Alan Ball is no longer with us, I would've liked to have seen Ball Ball

Yes maybe there are more long throws right now, but there have also always been some long throws in the game, and so we dont need every long throw accompanied by a commentator telling us 'long throws are back'

'Matchweek Twelve'

just feels like some kind of americanised video game phrasing

I was tempted to start an (Un-)Athletico FC thread. Were you put together the most unathletic team capable of competing in the Prem.

Neville Southall, Le Tiss etc

I wouldn't call it anything. before people started stating what matchweek it was, we never needed to be told it, and we all did just fine. its just another NFL style americanism that grinds my gears.

'welcome to matchweek 20 everyone!'

+ Adie Williams when he came back from injury in the mid to late 90's and looked like he had more than enjoyed his time off
