So we have time to bring in the players that LR wants/needs, without a league game to worry about. If we then go on to beat Mansfield/Blackpool (not exactly impossible) then a 7/12pts start to the season is perfectly acceptable - and would be a 78pt season if extrapolated.

If we win 3 lose 2 of every 5 games that gives us 82/83 point season - so things can change quickly.

If we are still struggling come end of September then he goes. But a very strong first half v Luton shows promise and the slightly more defensive approach at Wimbledon, with the hope of nicking a 1-0 seems to be a direct response to an appalling defensive display in the 2nd half.

And hey, at least we aren't Leicester.

How much will pride affect decisions? The owners have invested a lot their credibility into him and will be desperate for it to pay off. I think if he does get sacked, it will be after it's become completely toxic and untenable, and consensus will be it's a month or two too late. So maybe late November/ early December.

In a strange kind of way, it feels as though we're all waiting for this extra CF to turn up. Where's Trevor Morley when you need him? Hard as nails and would have a field day in this league.

Depends on how you look at it, he's part of selling the club to any incoming players. If they look at the football we played last season and think they want no part of that then its not just the owners fault for not getting players in.

Set up to fail? Not having that. A striker would be nice but if, no, WHEN Richardson goes, it'll actually be because just about every player in the squad has gone backwards since he's got his hands on them.

Fans seemed very happy with Lisbie and Earthy coming in, and performances from Dokes have been decent so far, - I'll watch with interest what happens to them in the next few weeks.

Brown isn't a striker though is he? He's one of those hybrid forward types that clog up football these days.

Like Stokes though he's pretty pointless because all of our attacking play (aside from the odd Dokes/Lisbie link up) goes through Wing trying to find Marriott in behind or switching play with cross field balls to DK to fumble.

We really need to mix things up a lot more than we do. Relying on Wing wonder passes to create isn't going to lead to a host of chances. It's no wonder people complain we create too few chances through our own build up. Before Selles left (and in reality Bindon too) Wing was perfectly happy to pass between the lines in building up the play and we were actually decent to watch for a while with Elliott and Knibbs in midfield. Even Wing & Savage seemed a better fit then when the cross field switch balls were Bindon to Azeez and later (to lesser effect) Campbell. Wing/Savage seemed more connected as a partnership then. I even think we underutilised Kamari Doyle last season for precisely this reason. He was decent but I always felt we could've got a lot more from him. Also why O'Mahony was a bust, never going to effective the way we play.

The answer may be to move Wing further forward but even when he gets in forward positions he usually shoots rather than tries to slip someone in on goal.

He's not hitting 30 yard balls to him though is he? He's hitting 40 yard balls into the space for him to run onto.

He can play exactly where he's played for his whole Reading career and still be effective. For whatever reason he's stopped doing it since Selles left.

He's not hitting 30 yard balls to him though is he? He's hitting 40 yard balls into the space for him to run onto.

He can play exactly where he's played for his whole Reading career and still be effective. For whatever reason he's stopped doing it since Selles left.
