It baffled me: Wigan had a minubus-load of fans who couldn't be heard, through the drab patches the whole stadium needs to be behind the team, also when we concede. That's what you'll find at a bigger clubs and bigger stadiums.

Club 1871 are becoming a bit of a joke. Videos on twitter of "limbs everywhere" and spotty 16 year olds giving oxf*rd signs to away fans, whilst the leader eggs them on.

Lastly, just t reiterate, what we're about is creating a positive atmosphere at a ground that has descended into toxicity negativity over the last half a dozen years or so. We'll give it verbal hell for leather for the full 90. We're not about arbitrarily chanting a left back who hasn't touched the ball for 10 minutes for 10 seconds and then onto the next chant for the keeper at the other end of the pitch. We want to bring a more continental feel to proceedings with inventive chants going on and on. This doesn't mean we're not interacting with the game, of course we will be. But while we watch we also chant. The test games at the end of last season were far from perfect admittedly, particularly as the group grew in number, but what we do have is an enthusiastic core of likeminded people who want to make this work.
However, the more we get together, the more we finetune what we do and hopefully we introduce some creative and unique chants that all stands can get into. And we need inventiveness. Football fans as a collective can be a judgmental bunch, we want to avoid that and allow people the chance to create and try things without fear of ridicule. Some things may catch, others may not, but there's no harm in trying

Admittedly a hard night last night, but a question.

Was last night the night that Club1871 died?

The idea, execution and worthiness of the project has been amazing and a huge congratulations to those who have and continue to organise it.

But last night, apart from the first 35 minutes and yes, I accept that was even after their first goal, the atmosphere became toxic from everywhere. There was another great effort just after half time for 10 minutes, but that soon died too.

When one of the most "hilarious" songs of the night is "we've had a shot", started in Club1871 and "we're going down with the wigan", again started in the same place, the whole concept is dead.

Essentially, the moaning numpties from Y26 have just moved to the South stand as it is the cool and noisy place to be.....

I hope the key couple of hundred who started the project can begin to dominate the atmosphere again, but good luck with that one if performances don't improve.

But the whole ideal of club 1871 was the same thing. If not everybody is in this ideal then it's dead and just another stand then. They have decimated the y26 lot and are full of 16 year old on WKD. Even their leader on twitter is taking the piss out of people and mocking people.

No I am not. It is disgusting and scummy to provoke people in opposite stands and causes trouble and that is clear to see from that video.

The ethos of CLUB1871 was to support the team and unite and provide atmosphere. Not provoke other fans.

Agree that C1871 need to be very careful, The club have bent over backwards to make the thing work and it has generally been a success but it could easily be scrapped if it starts turning sour.

Also agree that the use of the words disgusting and scum are in themselves pathetic and provocative. I wonder how the OP would describe child molestors and Priti Patel having gone full Daily Mail on a few teenagers acting the fool ?
