Since the new year I have had the impression that we were aiming to get to 50 points, largely through grinding out draws rather than trying to win. All of the business side of the club will have known from the second they signed up for the business plan. There's no way we were ever going to recoup enough in player sales to meet it. I'm still a bit bemused that the EFL looked at our squad a year a go and thought it was in anyway possible.

All of the business side of the club will have known from the second they signed up for the business plan. There's no way we were ever going to recoup enough in player sales to meet it. I'm still a bit bemused that the EFL looked at our squad a year a go and thought it was in anyway possible.

They didn't. They knew we would fail it and even if we achieved it we would be relegated anyway because we'd have lost every decent player we had, with no way to get quality replacements because we weren't allowed to reinvest.

Yes, and you would hope that Paul Ince found out around the same time. At which point I'm confused as to how/why Dai decided to keep him around beyond Cardiff away.

The owner is supposed to be a big gambler. Perhaps when we were top in September he placed a huge bet on us to be relegated.
