Spoken to a chum who is a ref, and his view of their winner is that there is no intent to play the ball and he'd usually call foul for obstruction, but it's not a categoric error as there's not lots in it. And the FA are putting a higher threshold on upper body contact for fouls on keepers this season.

One thing to point out - that was only the fourth time under Selles we've scored first and lost (W23; D5). The previous was Barnsley at home last December.

Didn’t watch the game but looked a bit unlucky with the chance at the end on the highlights. Also noticed Knibbs gets a shove over right at the end - maybe he should have rolled around crying and who knows

The trouble is that Knibbs and some of the others do roll around crying quite a lot (see Knibbs earlier in the game) .
Smith this season has spent a lot of time lying on the ground (admittedly justified now and again) and referees talk to each other so word gets around as to who are the divers.

As for Kelvin it was just stupid and he took one for Garcia who otherwise would have been the one sent off as he was already on a yellow.

Nothing changes-so many professional players are just thick.

Coming back to the game yesterday , we discussed on here last week about how our full-backs fail to block crosses and once again it happened with Craig allowing their player to cross.
With players asked to play out of position it seems churlish to criticise and we just have to stay calm but , despite what others have posted in recent weeks , there is very little to get excited about and we fans just have to bite the bullet and hope for better times ahead.....................one day.

To be fair to Kelvin, if I'd seen a full grown man starting on a 16 year old because they were in a tangle after a fair challenge, I'd have steamed in and shoved him away too.

You might do out on the streets but it is not within a player's remit to go charging in to a minor scuffle on the pitch that had nothing to do with him especially as he had already been booked.
This isn't Sunday League, it is where people are paid to do a job and Kelvin foolishly over stepped the mark having already been foolish to pick up the earlier booking and I hope the manager had a real go at him for letting his side down.

Ehib was demonstrating Sunday League credentials….there is no escape in the modern professional game of var/sky/ intervvank….and besides, players have become far too precious

Give us back the days of proper handbags… Lee/Hunter, Keegan/Bremner and the likes…when dislike meant dislike and the players finished the game with bruises not bookings and bans.

If Garcia hadn’t reacted then I’d have been more annoyed, but he did and he had a couple of players squaring up to him. I’d continue to say what Kelv did didn’t really warrant a second yellow, it was barely even a shove. I know he’s a big lad but their player massively exaggerated

Point of interest, but there is no offence of ‘obstruction’ mentioned in the laws of the game.
It was replaced some time ago with 2 offences
1. Impeding an opponent with contact (direct free kick)
2. Impeding an opponent without contact (indirect free kick)
Of course people still use the term ‘obstruction’ but it’s not the actual offence anymore

Nonsense and referees this season are readily booking players who get involved when it has nothing to do with them.
Maybe Akande will get a game and if he does well and threatens his place in the side Kelvin might reflect more and not just think "I had to help my mate out".

That would be the imaginary one that their player went down clutching his face for. Possibly Garcia's hands caught him when raised to defend himself and try to throw him off from attacking him.
