Warnock has been honest (I know that’s hard for some of you to believe!) with regards to the Watson transfer from day one and if there was any sort of interest from Reading he would be the first to announce it to the press as its in the clubs best interest. He pulled Watson out of a friendly on Wednesday evening after confirming he had received further enquiries from Both QPR and Birmingham, at the same time he confirmed they had not had any contact from Forest or any other club.Southbank Old Boy wrote:How do you know that Steve?UTDSTEVE wrote:Reading have not had any bids knocked back because the FACT is they have not made any!Streets wrote:I only know we had 2 bids knocked back. I'd love us to sign him, but if he was to leave Palace for a figure in the region of £1m, I think they'd rather hold onto him for one final year.
Only QPR and Birmingham have made enquiries about Watson.
We got £6m from last season.FiNeRaIn wrote:Don't be silly, we can't afford to pay 2 million for a player, we only got 40 million or so profit from each year in the prem but thats WAY over budget. Please come back with sensible suggestions like Ruel FOx as a player/coach or some lad from shrewsbury, etc

And we've signed two players for £2m plus in the past 2 seasons (Fae and Halford).
I seem to remeber that club stating that was the profit from the last set of published accounts, although I am sure there was some 'creative accounting'.Platypuss wrote:How do you know we got £6M?SCIAG wrote:We got £6m from last season.FiNeRaIn wrote:Don't be silly, we can't afford to pay 2 million for a player, we only got 40 million or so profit from each year in the prem but thats WAY over budget. Not at Championship level we haven't, and we wont be any time soon!SCIAG wrote:We got £6m from last season.FiNeRaIn wrote:Don't be silly, we can't afford to pay 2 million for a player, we only got 40 million or so profit from each year in the prem but thats WAY over budget. Thats probably right, but then its also possible that we've got agreement from them to keep it under wraps.UTDSTEVE wrote: Warnock has been honest (I know that’s hard for some of you to believe!) with regards to the Watson transfer from day one and if there was any sort of interest from Reading he would be the first to announce it to the press as its in the clubs best interest. Agree- no one knows - Reading always doing their dealings in the secrecy of a masonic lodge - can just see Bugs and Syrup getting togged up in the garb to seal the deal!Southbank Old Boy wrote:Thats probably right, but then its also possible that we've got agreement from them to keep it under wraps.UTDSTEVE wrote: Warnock has been honest (I know that’s hard for some of you to believe!) with regards to the Watson transfer from day one and if there was any sort of interest from Reading he would be the first to announce it to the press as its in the clubs best interest. It might be unlikely that Warnock would keep to that kind of deal, but if they think it's in Palace's best interest, ie we'll come back with a better bid but want to keep it all hush hush, then they'll go along with it.
If you'd said you don't think Reading have made a bid I'd probably agree with you, to claim you know it for a fact is just plain daft though.

We probably needed to sign him before the unjury as MM has not exactly been that good for us,
Not that we will sign him as the club has no money.
