madreadingfan I completley agree with bigmike, I very much doubt we would sell 5,000 (if we had that many) if there wasn't free travel. We've had like an average of 700 fans for away attendances this season, we would be lucky if we sold around 3000 without the free coach travel. We took around 1500 to burnley when we could of made it to wembley which was on a Saturday. Trains are shit to city and it's on tv. Based on our away attendances, the club did the right thing asking for 2800 tickets (before they knew about the free travel) because otherwise Reading would of paid for every un sold ticket.

You are completely wrong for all the reasons already made clear many times previously on this thread.

Svlad Cjelli So has this really got to a point of arguing over what the additional demand for tickets would have been? - i.e. something that no-one can possibly knows and so can only speculate on?

Surely it's blindingly obvious that demand was greater than 2,800, but no-one can tell by how much - even before free coach travel changed the parameters even more.

So anyone who can spent their time arguing exactly (or even approximately) how many extra tickets were required is whistling in the wind.

It's replacing all the posts I lost when Arafat was deleted though, so for that, I'm grateful to RFC.

Oh ffs. HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK THE UNSOLD TICKETS WOULD HAVE COST? Peanuts compared to what we are making ON THIS GAME ALONE.

woaah it's that time of the month for someone.

Yes, fair point but if we wernt going to sell those tickets we might aswell give them to city for a sell out game instead of their being empty seats in the Reading end ....

LOL - you do KNOW how old I am, right?

We don't know we weren't going to sell them, so why not take the gamble anyway?

I think it's slightly more than that. The club has, for me, made three bad errors

- Ordering far too few tickets
- Making the second sale band 600-1600
- Selling tickets over the internet from midnight but only at the ticket office from 9.00am

These errors have compounded to ensure many deserving fans will not get tickets.

The club has not given the slightest indication that they accept they have made mistakes or that they will learn from them.

Simple.. Because our support is shocking away from home so the club didn't think we would sell that much. Did you get a ticket?

And there are the issues in a nutshell.

The club can defend their decision on the first one (and they have already done so) but the other two are indefensible.

Agreed Shards,

It was pretty much as good as saying if you haven't got access to the Internet at midnight, you ain't getting a ticket!

Did anyone actually miss out on buying tickets (even for the home end) that wants some? As i said earlier, My Student Union is selling them for £10.50 each. Me and a mate are buying a couple, and I don't mind buying some for others if they want some and can meet up on Sunday. PM or reply to this post if interested.

Top stuff Niko,

If you get to many enquiries, pass some my way. I don't have a Reading Postcode either so would be more than happy to help out anyone that really wants to be there.

How many extra is irrelevant though. The decision was 2,800 or all of them. The cost of any unsold tickets would be more than covered by prize and TV money.

RFC made the wrong choice.

Fair play Niko. Rather watch it in the pub than in the home end though tbf. Return train tickets from London are over £70 now as well.

88 pages

I think any neutral supporter who heard that an away team only had 2800 tickets for a trip to Man City in the 1/4 finals of the FA Cup would LOL at how few it was.

Can't understand how it ever seemed like a sensible number in anybody's head whatsoever.

Bring back Boyd Butler.

Understand you not wanting to be in the home in SB,

For anyone that is worried about travel costs, can we not use some of the spaces from the 2,800 tickets that have been sold but won't be using the transport?

Some of us can get the match tickets and some of us have travel vouchers that won't be used. If it only helps a dozen people out, it's 12 more that get to see the game.

Tbf Mags, over half these 88 pages are all saying the same thing anyway! Still +1 for the old post count.

so did I :) so I don't know why were having this debate! I'm just happy I've got some tickets! If the club did oxf*rd up who cares it shows you have to be more loyal to your team to have priority over tickets.
