how do you define the best squad in the league though? People might think someone else's has more technical quality in it but mentality, desire etc all plays a part in sport and if they don't have that then they are not as good as players that do.

No, you can look at players technical ability and judge one to be better than another if you want but it is a whole package that includes a lot of mental strength and if they don't have that then they are not as good as players that do have it and achieve more.

Therefore if a team reaches the top of the league, they must be the best squad in the league.

What use is a great squad that can't win anything?

Liverpool's achievements this season, in spite of the plaudits they have received, are hugely under-rated. This is a squad with no depth (Victor Moses is their attacking sub, ffs), and a first-team including players like Henderson and Allen who last year were considered sub-standard.

United won the title last season with an ageing squad and no midfield.

Aren't debates about who has the best players for kids and fanboys? Oh, it was Kes who started this. Funny that.
