This thread has been the biggest exercise in futility I've known.

Also, due to him not signing for us, I have lost a bet which means I need to pay for all my mates drinks at the next night out. The oxf*rd drinks Staropramen.

This story suggests to me that some of the ITK-ers were wrong...

I wonder what highly-respected Nick Hammed thinks about the article

Not so sure - what's interesting is that is the first interview I've seen with McD where he doesn't talk about Gylifi going to a top four club, and he doesn't completely write off the player coming back...

It might be straw clutching but:

"I haven't a clue where he's going to go" - doesn't say we're not in for him, could just mean that the player has a bunch of option (including us) and is yet to make his mind up....

"Anyone who plays that system - one off the striker - will see him score. I don’t care what team he plays for.” - basically saying Gylfi will score wherever he goes, shouldn't be taken literally that McD doesn't care where he ends up....

If anything that article has given me a bit more hope that we're at least "in the game" with Gylfi...

Yup, just thought it strange that McD wasn't trotting out the same old lines re. Gylfi that we've heard from him in the past....he'll go to a top four club etc

Hammond is a great asset to this club and I still wouldn't be surprised if he were to pull a rabbit out of a hat on this one...

I think FL, mafff and bigmike are just massive WUM's. FL called one thing correctly and is now just abusing the priveledge. Need more CamberlyRoyal's on the board

"He played for Brendan (Rodgers, McDermott's Royals predecessor, who would later sign Sigurdsson on loan for Swansea). He was in and out of the team and I just thought his best position was no.10.

“He played and scored a lot of, around 15, for me from about Christmas time onwards. Terrific player.”

Cheeky swipe at Rodgers :D

I'd hardly expect him to say we were interested in signing him. Given that our alleged interest has been reported nowhere in the media, to say we're interested now, when it's a widely accepted argument he will go to Spurs, would make us look either (or probably both)

1. Stupid because we think we can compete with a big club
2. Up ourselves because now we have some money we can do what we want

We're betting off keeping quiet, and if a miracle happens, play it as the cool guy who knew all along rather than kicking up a fuss now

There's no smoke without fire so I suspect numerous 'ITK' people have something

Also he didn't come out and say we're not looking at him, he'll go somewhere bigger etc...

To be honest I'm not too sure we really are in for him though so he should have put us out of our misery!!!

Well, BigMike has 'come out'.

This thread is now about as pointless as low ceilings in Gary Speed's house.

sandman on the 5th of June I 'm not convinced that we have made a bid for Gylfi tbh. I know we like to keep things quiet in our transfer activities but I'd have thought someone other than FL and bigmike would've reported any bid from us by now.

That's their wage cap. Not likely.
