Well yes, until something else goes awry and then there would be an ask for another statement to confirm what is going on this time. I'm not saying it wouldn't be welcomed but it won't be clean as you suggest as people will just dissect what it isn't say, or what it could mean....
I saw someone on Twitter holding up a statement from Cardiff Rugby that they put out following rumours of merger as the way forward, except the statement literally said nothing to dispell the fear that there may well be a merger between them and another Welsh side.
It almost makes you wish for the day where the only outlet for news of the club was the local paper, none of knew or cared what was going on behind the scenes, no-one was demanding answers and no-one was able to dig up worrying news without proper context.
