Only if they progress deep into the tournament I would say - though means he will miss a bulk of pre-season which is unfortunate but not the end of the world.WestYorksRoyal wrote:Bindon in the NZ Olympics squad where he will face France and Olise. I don't know the exact dates, but likely to affect the start of the season?

Herbert Smith 1908 Gold medal
Ted Hanney 1912 - in gold medal team but didn't play in final

Was in Chelsea's academy before 1 year in Reading's in 2008. Played for Dagenham though.RG30 wrote:Wasn't Adam Gemili on the club's books at one stage as well?
Yes there is a qualifying process, you could have googled it….Sutekh wrote:Bindon should be back in a day or two as NZ play France tonight and pretty much need to avoid defeat to have a chance of staying in the competition (France have won their two group games so far and the US walloped NZ 4-1 last time out after NZ got a late win v Guinea in their opener).
I also wonder just what the ******* point is of having football in the olympics as there's only 16 teams! Don't know if there is qualifying for the games though?
I guess Bindon may not make it if the concussion period needs to be applied.Clyde1998 wrote:Looking at players away on international duty in the next week:
Tyler Bindon - New Zealand vs Mexico (A) and United States (A) in friendlies.
Coniah Boyce-Clarke - Jamaica vs Cuba (H) and Honduras (A) in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Jeriel Dorsett (TBC) - Montserrat vs El Salvador (N) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (N) in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Charlie Savage - Wales U21 vs Iceland (A) in the Euro U21 qualifiers.
Basil Tuma - Malta U21s vs Kazakhstan (A) and Scotland (H) in the Euro U21 qualifiers.
There may be more, but that's what we've got so far. I imagine Bindon will be withdrawn with concussion.
Not surprised, he looked like he might have been out cold for a few seconds. Not often you see the lino frantically signalling for a physio.Clyde1998 wrote:(What looks to be) the official New Zealand twitter feed is confirming Bindon is out of their squad with concussion: https://x.com/NZ_Football/status/1830805719450620361
Seemed to go over the top of the player and landed on his head; he wasn't moving as soon as he hit the ground. Really good he walked off the pitch himself.Snowflake Royal wrote:Not surprised, he looked like he might have been out cold for a few seconds. I feel like 10 days, but no idea where I got that.Clyde1998 wrote:Seemed to go over the top of the player and landed on his head; he wasn't moving as soon as he hit the ground. Is it not two weeks players have to be withdrawn from competitive action with concussion? Hopefully he'll be available for Leyton Orient.
