Aaron Kuhl was a weird one, got rave reviews for the academy.

I've written a few posts about 'the vortex' but the one thing is does cripple is the chances of the players coming through. It's already tough, an injury at the wrong time will do for a career. But the manager changes, has his own ideas, and 9 times out of 10 will bring in someone rather than use a youth player.

So, recent past:
Kuhl looked good, if a bit lightweight, in the appearances I saw. Likewise Tetek. I think injuries worked against player here.
I cannot understand why we didn't keep Clarke as a different type of forward player.
Saw Josh Barrett once, thought he was good.
There's got to be more examples. Have a look through the list and how many are young players, wonder where they all ended up.

One of the things I have liked the last two seasons is the approach of giving players some game time to adapt and grow. The odd mistake (Kanu, Colchester, ) but nothing really serious.

Funnily enough I was thinking this earlier. I missed the Madejski days when we picked up young, often unwanted players with a point to prove. (Much like Savage and Elliot)

I hope we continue to promote academy players in future should the takeover happen.

How many of Vickers, WiFi, Abbey, Bindon, Garcia, Dorsett, Osho, Craig, Wareham, Camara, Akande and Azeez would have been given their opportunity had Stam, Clement, Paunovic, Gomes, Ince etc been here?
