So as a team we really need about 25-30 games all in to make a judgement on how the season is going?Snowflake Royal wrote:Obviously league games.

But you can still see what the manager is trying to do in cup games. How we set up, and patterns we are trying to makeSnowflake Royal wrote:Hound wrote:So as a team we really need about 25-30 games all in to make a judgement on how the season is going?Snowflake Royal wrote:Obviously league games.![]()
The cup games are meaningless as the quality of opposition is very varied and we don’t field our first team.
10 games you get a decent sense of where you are, then 10 games, roughly, to see if you can do anything about it.
You know this though. You just made your mind up after 5 or 6.
It's got nothing to do with Hunt. And everything to do with not just jerking knees at some poor form.Hound wrote:But you can still see what the manager is trying to do in cup games. How we set up, and patterns we are trying to makeSnowflake Royal wrote:Hound wrote:

The 20 game rule is your thing, that’s not in any way a measure used consistently
And yeah I could see after 5/6 games that things won’t working and they still aren’t. Didn’t like the demotion of academy players, the number of other signings made.
I admire your backing of Hunt but I can’t really see what’s it’s based on other than a sense of some sort of loyalty and wishful thinking. I can’t see how this team under this management becomes a good side I’m afraid; and I don’t see a longer term plan either
We want to see better performances.Orion1871 wrote:It's not knee jerk if you are considering what you are seeing on the pitch in those losses and you can't see an obvious plan from the manager. No one is merely saying, "oh the results are bad get rid of him". Well maybe Jimmy is, but he's a blithering idiot.
It's the Jose Gomes factor, lovely guy, you root for him to win because he's one of the good guys. It's just not happening and it's difficult to see what his plan is and whether he has the ability to turn it around.
That’s not really what people are saying though is it?Snowflake Royal wrote:We want to see better performances.Orion1871 wrote:It's not knee jerk if you are considering what you are seeing on the pitch in those losses and you can't see an obvious plan from the manager. Better performances don't count. It’s only one game. Cardiff were rubbish. We still lost.
Well, we have very different standards for patient.Hound wrote:That’s not really what people are saying though is it?Snowflake Royal wrote:We want to see better performances.Orion1871 wrote:It's not knee jerk if you are considering what you are seeing on the pitch in those losses and you can't see an obvious plan from the manager. You can’t say we’ve turned a corner on one good display. Yes everyone inc me acknowledges we were a lot better - but that doesn’t mean he’s cracked it and all the cynics inc me can now shut up
Cardiff could have had an off day. It could have been a one off from us. Tuesday we may be crap again. Defensively we still let through 2 pretty poor goals - all of those are true
On the other hand if this display is the start of a consistent improvement then fantastic.
Both the above need to be taken as the context
I think the fans have been patient tbh. Had Hunt not had the Reading connection and not been such a good guy generally, they’d have turned against him weeks ago
So 20 games is Luton - 20th December.Snowflake Royal wrote:Well, we have very different standards for patient.Hound wrote:That’s not really what people are saying though is it?Snowflake Royal wrote: We want to see better performances.
