RoyalBlue One for the oldies - shame we didn't get longer to enjoy him before his then big money (£60K then - £881K now) move to Southampton.

Tommy Jenkins five goals in just 21 games.

Bought from Margate for £500 just 6 months earlier, although we did then have to pay them an appearance bonus of £1,000 after 10 games.

Where does that rank amongst our highest returns on investments in players?

Agreed on Jenkins-he was sensational and it was just a shame that injuries stopped him doing better at Saints but in those few games he stood out as being way better than what we had at the time.

Also agree with the poster who said about McEever-I was actually excited when got him after seeing him for Bristol Rovers and after scoring away at Stoke he then scored away at Bournemouth in a 1-0 win much to the delight of me and my family.
He was on loan but did we then sign him again later and he wasn't very good or am I just imagining it?

Incidentally, apart from Gurney, we did quite well signing players from Bristol Rovers.

Never signed McKeever on anything other than a loan - surprising given Burns was manager but then I suppose JM was starting to cotton onto TB2’s shortcomings :o

He left Wednesday permanently for Bristol Rovers a season or so later having had a couple of loans at the gas previously. He eventually retired from the game through injury when he was about 30.

Seem to recall Glen Little causing Ashley Cole all sorts of problems at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Shame he wasn't regularly fit for us by that stage of his career, especially the second season.
