The pitfalls of new ownership

If Mr Mad sells up in the next few Years, I'm genuinely worried that in a generation we will look back at the seasons between 2005/06 and that date as the golden period of our club, where everything came together to produce promotion, the Championship, record points totals, survival credibility and respect in the Premiership, maybe a cup win or European qualification - and then, after the takeover financial mismanagement, eventual relegation upon relegation, and going to places like Rochdale to hear the home fans shout "your not famous anymore" at the 200 travelling Royals supporters........

Sorry to be down about it, but that COULD happen; I guess the moral of the story is enjoy what is happening at the moment; not only has there never been a better time to be a Reading fan, but it might be that there may never be as good a time as now in the future.

If only one of the rumours about a certain manager's antics is true, that can hardly have helped morale at the club. Can't see Sir Steve getting up to any mischief to be honest!

Also, I seem to remember that Pardew either loved or hated you, there was very little middle ground and when players were out of favour he had a way of dealing with them, which again is likely to hit morale in the camp.

Sir Steve is a better person, better man manager and better manager.

If new owners come in, its a quick take over and give clear indications of their intent - then that can be a good thing! Players will then know they are playing for an ambicious club that are willing to invest and take the club some were. Its dosnt need to be doom and gloom.

To a certain extent this is what happened at WHU - only it was quite drawn out...

Andway, i would'nt turn my nose at Green or Ferdinand, as both are quality when confidence is high (which it is at out club) and would be great for the youth and future of the club!

Or they could help is on the next level helping us break in to Europe regularly and poss even the Champions League or a Premiership title.

Whilst I understand your point, either is possible and is not even worth contemplating at the moment.

Agreed - and I wasn't being negative, or saying my armageddon scenario was going to happen, just saying what MAY happen and that we should love every minute of this period in our clubs history; after all, it isn't often you can say "we are making history now" but thats the fact.

GC - you were still worried about not getting promoted the day before the Leicester game!!!! Even Coppell had (privately) accepted that we were going up in January!

Have to agree with DG, the supposed uncertainty of new ownership is just a smokescreen to attempt to deflect away from the attitude of the West Ham players.

At the end of it all, the only thing that has changed is the signature on their vast pay cheques. It is not like a small company being taken over where by people are concerned about their futures due to possible cuts. And indeed if it were surely you'd want to perform to the top of your ability to prove to the new owners you are worth your place, not like the shower of shit that played us yesterday.
