Not wishing to appear to dismiss your views but Burnley are a Premiership club and we aren't.

That's a pretty significant step up.

Doyle stuck around through 2 windows when he could probably have jumped ship (and got himself a nice increased contract so it wasn;t 100% altruistic) but I don;t think anyone could begrudge him moving this summer.

Doyle stuck around through 2 windows when he could probably have jumped ship (and got himself a nice increased contract so it wasn;t 100% altruistic) but I don;t think anyone could begrudge him moving this summer.

Doyle is better than Burnley and as he isn't desperate to move I think he will wait for a better opportunity than that.

I would rate Burnley's chances of survival at less than 50% and so Doyle will more than likely find himself playing back in the Championship next season.

on last seasons form? i don't think so £7m would be robbery on our part, not quite as bad as £5.5m for Kitson though.

I would say that Doyle is worth £7m considering he was our top scorer, despite being injured in the latter part of last season. Hunt was really good up to January, so I'd say he's worth at least £3m.

And strikers are very expensive, if we're going to let a really good one go, we'd need to spend some serious money on a quality replacement, so I'd £7m is a fair price for Doyle.

Not if he negotiates a break clause with them.

If he stays with us he's got no chance of playing Premiership football next season.

But I'd agree that there will be other interest in him and I don;t think jumping at the first offer that comes along would make much sense.

Sometimes all you need to stay up is to keep fighting and play with confidence and determination no matter the results.

As for Doyle's price, he has had half a good season in two years. That's going to lower his value. Especially given a couple of niggling injuries recently. I'd be delighted with £7m. I think £5m is more his price, but weighted front end.

Shunt is worth about £2m. He can be excellent, but doesn't have the basic technique and brain to be consistently good for a season. He'll blow hot and cold.

Everton would be a good and realistic bet for both IMO. If Doyle goes for roughly £5m I could see a cheeky bid for Cox. Neither Church, nor Long strike me as players to get 15+ goals in a season. NHunt maybe. Mooney who knows. Cox certainly has the goal touch though.

That is a bit harsh on Long. He scored 9 goals in 11 plus 26 starts and considering many of the sub appearances were a few minutes I think he could easily slot 15 if we played him as first choice striker. Also it is a bit early to know how good Church will be.

On the contrary, I think that is exactly the sort of player Church could become given the chance. You clearly didn't see the Wales game on Saturday. Churchy was very impressive for the 70 minutes he played - much better than Earnshaw.
