Whilst the goal is certainly rather special, it was Beckford's attitude that I remember most. Boy oh boy is he pleased with himself. Made Leroy look like a rather shy and humble choirboy. Let DiMatteo have the pleasure of managing that, I reckon. I really can't see Mr Mad wanting in.
Wouldn't be SJM's problem. I can see BR quite easily dealing with JB's Bertie Big-Bollocks attitude. Thing is, would he want to?
SJM deeply rates the 'family values' of his club. He has strong views on attitudes of modern footballers (one of the reasons he wants out, I think). So if SJM believes that character, attitude and fit with the club's values are critical, and that he considers such things when sanctioning transfers, then do you reckon he just signs the cheque and says to the manager 'Your problem now mate'?
