It's interesting that United are already selling tickets to the game, my 2 co-workers have tickets+hotel booked for the United end while I'm sitting here waiting for kick-off time to be announced and tickets to go on sale by the club.

Just looked and the Man Utd ticket website https://tickets.manutd.com/en-GB/catego ... me-tickets says:

Date & K.O. Time TBC / Old Trafford

Applications for this game are being accepted from existing Official Members, including disabled supporters and opted-out Season Ticket holders until 8am Thursday 19th January (extended from Mon 16 Jan). Season Ticket holder cup payments were processed from Tuesday 10th January.

So no more information than we already know

Sheffield's game V Wrexham is also on TV late Sunday so there's a good chance the league game due that weekend will be scheduled later in season

Pricing is just awful, it’s on terrestrial telly, Reading seem to get a trip to Old Trafford very regularly and who wants to pay out for travel just to watch Man U’s “fringe” comfortably beat the Reading “strong but no cigar” XI. Luckily for Reading though, there’ll still be 70000 “day trippers” there whatever.

I hear that hotels are very expensive for Utd evening games. I can't see us getting close to the 3k mark to be honest - I think more people would be up for driving up to an early kick off and getting home at a reasonable time than they would be doing this. But then again, it's better than Friday/Monday evening.

Surely the club will put some coach travel on for supporters? I know it's not ideal for those travelling from Reading but surely we could muster up 5k fans for this game at least if we had plenty of coaches coming up? How far is it 3-4 hours? Suppose 2am isn't great to be getting back in at though for fans travelling.

It says ‘an allocation’ rather than final allocation. I get the impression the club are being deliberately vague about it because I don’t think they expect it to sell out due to the reasons given above. That way they don’t have to address the ‘will we get more?’ question. I certainly don’t think this one will be as popular as our last two trips there…both of which it was easy to obtain tickets for those who wanted to go. I’m hoping to go, as it is a significant birthday for me that weekend!

Its all a bit meh though as we've played them so often.

If we were away at another big 6 side, even Man City at same time, I'm sure loads more people would go.

Coaches have run to every Reading away game for probably the last 50+ years !

Coaches will take longer than 3-4 hours, particularly with a stop.
