Why? He wouldn't have played anyway as Warnock is leaving him in the reserves (and cup team) until he decides that he wants to stay and signs a new deal.Streets wrote:Handy for the weekend.Wycombe Royal wrote:I heard that he got injured last night.
Oh really? After their shocker at Leeds and the suspensions and injuries, they may just have played him though. But you can see why Warnock has taken that stance. Either way, glad he's injured. He isn't a Reading target at £2m anyway.Wycombe Royal wrote:Why? If Jordan won't sell to us because he dislikes Coppell (as stated a page or so previously) I don't think he is likely to sell him to Dowie.Row Z Royal wrote:If Watson goes anywhere, it'll be QPR.

wasnt he offered a better deal for the player, refused it, and asked for tribunal who gave a lower price than the one theyd already been offered-LOL-serves him rightWest Stand Man wrote:-- but Jordan didn't.brendywendy wrote:thought the deal for bostock was pretty fair
I agree though, that any antipathy that Simon Jordan has for past managers will not get in the way of a solid business deal. He has not become wealthy by turning down a good offer for cash.
I'm sure I heard that his dislike for Coppell was more about his persona, in that he wanted a full-on in-your-face type manager with a bit of arrogance - someone a bit like himself, which is probably why he went for Warnock. It wasn't that they had a big bust up or anything like that.Chuckle Brother wrote:If Jordan won't sell to us because he dislikes Coppell (as stated a page or so previously) I don't think he is likely to sell him to Dowie.Row Z Royal wrote:If Watson goes anywhere, it'll be QPR.
Not that I think Jordan will care who he sells to, as long as he is not ripped off by a tribunal as with Bostock.
Perhaps we could do a swap deal involving say Lita.Tazewell Royal wrote:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/08/28/crystal-palace-to-swap-ben-watson-for-ipswich-s-alan-lee-115875-20714599/
Or maybe... Reading do have serious hopes for Karacan and with Matejovsky to come back then could we save the cash and give Jem his overdue chance to secure a first team spot? That's my hope anyway.BR2 wrote:Perhaps we could do a swap deal involving say Lita.Tazewell Royal wrote:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/08/28/crystal-palace-to-swap-ben-watson-for-ipswich-s-alan-lee-115875-20714599/
Coppell said in pre-season he would be happy to go with just 3 strikers-now we have 5 so a top midfielder instead of a striker who doesn't score goals sounds a fair deal to me.
On the other hand why don't we just offer £2.2 million and get him-oh I forgot we don't have any money or do we?
