But it's ok because neither of them are in a relegation battle, right?John Smith wrote:Utterly mammoth weekend for most leagues but pick of the bunch for me comes at Blundell Park, where Grimsby (21st) take on Barnet (23rd) in what is probably the last roll of the dice for the Bees but could very well all but secure safety for the Mariners.
My money is on the home side who secured their first win in 21 games(!) last week and I think home advantage will prevail.

One of the few times I've bothered watching MotD (ages ago) this season, I remember that plank Garth Crooks was saying Rafa's a good enough manager to win the league with Newcastle if he's backed properly.Hoop Blah wrote:Newcastle’s win over Arsenal was their 4th on the spin and I keep hearing about how Rafa has done such a great job on limited resources.
Personally I think Rafa did a good job of managing expectations as their squad is no worse than many others.
I think the more interesting story is how well they’ve done since the transfer window shut and Rafa stopped bleating about needing better players and got down to coaching and motivating what he had. Since then they’ve won 5, drawn 2 and lost just once, away to Liverpool.
Looks like a good read, not seen it before.Sanguine wrote:https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/apr/27/the-premier-league-teams-ineptitude-index-2017-18
Always enjoy this when it comes around - the Guardian's ineptitude index for the season, picking out some of the less glamorous stats and ranking teams by their stupidity.
Personal favourites are that Watford have thrown the ball to the opposition 256 times from throw-ins this season, and that Lewis Dunk has scored more own goals (4) than any other team in the league.
